MIDI Show Control is for communication and integration between different hardware and software. It's a way for them to trigger each other's cues and things: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI_Show_Control

The easiest way to do this right now would be Python I believe, since there are definitely libraries out there for recognizing QR codes, and you can feed video into the Pythoner actor.
