Hiya,
I while ago I was asking a bunch of questions about NDI,
Re: [questions about NDI](/topic/7695/questions-about-ndi)
...and I still haven't gotten around to doing any experiments really. A mix of personal life and work mounting up on top of me really.
Are there any good tutorials that I can follow to get me started with using NDI in isadora that anyone would recommend?
I've essentially forgotyten everything that I learned in my initial research so some kind of step by step intro would be amazing.
Thaaaaaaanks
Dear All,
Over the last few days I've added a new feature to the NDI Watcher actor: the ability to send the NDI stream's audio to any system audio output device and to simultaneously control the volume.
To use it, simply choose the output device you wish to send the audio to from the 'audio device' popup menu. (Note that we are not supporting ASIO devices on Windows yet. I'll take this under advisement.)
This new audio feature should be considered as an alpha release. I've tested it on MacOS and Windows, and it works for me, but this feature has not been tested by our team or the beta testers -- in other words, for the moment, you should expect it to crash. To avoid crashes, simply leave the 'audio device' set to 'None' which disabled the new feature entirely.
We are putting it out in this state because it is an important addition for anyone using NDI to facilitate remote performances, and people need these features now.
If it works for you, great -- let us know. If not, please report bugs here for now instead of opening tickets on them.

Best Wishes,
Mark
I need to send some very small NDI streams, 150 * 5 pixels. When I send these with Isadora any NDI receiver reports the height as width in its previews. Also the pixels are not correctly formed, there is a strange jagged edge and there seems to be some padding, also whenI specifiy a height of 6 the stream reports 5. When I try the same task using te NDI SDK in c++ these tiny streams work perfectly. I didnt bother to test larger streams, or to probe more, but you can see using the SDK tools when Isadora sends small NDI streams they are not correctlyt formed.

What's missing here is how you are getting Isadora's stage output to Blackboard. Please fill us in on that.
The setup is using a MacBook Pro (Retina, mid 2015). This has two Thunderbolt 2 ports. One of these has a two metre thunderbolt 2 cable linked to the BlackMagic then a 1.5 metre hdmi cable to the camera ( this cable is full size hdmi to micro hdmi at the camera).
OBS NDI resources installed. NDI resources installed. BlackMagic Desktop Video resources installed.
Using Isadora live capture set to BlackMagic input. Video in watcher to projector. Stage setup with NDI checked.
Blackboard offers audio and video setup as separate dialogs. In video input settings NDI video is available for selection.
I was unable to resolve clean audio through the camera/hdmi and switched to the USB audio interface a couple of weeks ago.
I started to have connection issues after many weeks of successful NDI streaming. I then thought to attempt a Syphon stream into Blackboard. I switched the Stage Setup option to Syphon. There appeared to be a Syphon stream available in the Blackboard video dialog by selecting the OBS video device option. I only had the opportunity to try this once as Isadora began to fail on launch.
There may have been some other attempts at workarounds in this journey, but that is basically the path.
I am unable to answer any additional questions because I now have to resolve Isadora to launch without immediately crashing.
Best wishes
Russell
@bennnid
I think you are best off to convert to NDI for wireless transmission.
So you will probably want some type of HDMI to NDI converter.
It looks like B&H photo list quit a few: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c...
This is the lowest cost wireless NDI camera I have seen on the market: https://mevo.com/products/mevo...
Not sure if that is helpful to you?
Hi all!
I want to explore the most efficient way of receiving feeds, mixing them in Izzy, then streaming them out (to YouTube, Twitch, FB Live, and/or all the rest).
I got it working in April, but it felt like a lot of unnecessary processing AND (the major hiccup for me) I couldn't get more than 1 feed in full res (needing to crop as I added people). My basic setup in April for a live performance was this:
Dancer A: feed via Skype (enabled NDI) > Izzy via NDI actor
Musician A: feed via their channel on Twitch > OBS Instance 1 (window capture) > Izzy via NDI actor
Local Dancer B (me): Sony A6000 via elGato video capture > Izzy
Sent out via STAGE and NDI
OBS Instance 2 > NDI plugin > FB Live
It worked and there were no hiccups, but running 2 instances of OBS was a window hog and I feel like routing so much could have been more simple. Ideally, I could grab each performers feed directly into Izzy and then sent the mix out via Spout through OBS. Trick is the method of grabbing those feeds directly. Of course I could just use SKype, but the performers (I found) weren't used to Skype and getting them to download the app, setting it up, etc. put a drag on our rehearsal time.
I'm looking at OBS Ninja at the moment and I seem to be able to grab solo feeds via a simple URL below each person in the room. I'm excited about this as it gives me full resolution, independent feeds with no watermark (as is true with Skype)! I /could/ paste each feed into a browser and send to Izzy via window capture, sure. But should there be a way of grabbing directly from the URL (mitigating the need for resizing browser windows taking up real estate on my control screen)? I do have an external monitor, but would like to use that for the ultimate "out" in full screen, or at least the OBS window.
Any other workflows to suggest here?
Hi there @mark_m,
Isadora doesn't support NDI receiving yet. (It has been planned for Isadora 3). What he can do is NDI > NDI to Spout > Isadora
"Spout to NDI" and "Syphon2NDI" have just now been finished enough for beta testing.
For more details, check out the Spout forum here :

Please add support for NDI and NDI HX. NDI is currently supported by Mitti and Millumen. The HX version is supported in a beta version of Millumen. NDI is a totally superior way to do both wireless iPhone stuff and video over ethernet. I am also now trying out the NewTek spark and it works very well, very low latency by ethernet and uses its HX version which is much lower bandwidth requirement. All very very stable and an amazing solution for low latency long cable run situations. Would love to be able to use directly in Isadora. Will for the moment be sending it from Millumen by syphon but not sure if I want to go into a production in a few weeks using Millumen beta. Hope this can be figured out soon!
Hi all,
I have been loving all the support towards building remote performances and was avidly following the guru sessions. So I am building a remote performance and one of the things I would like to do is have an NDI audio feed control the scale of a 3d object. I know how to do this normally (with a sound level watcher or sound frequency watcher from a live input) BUT to be able to use an NDI source seems beyond me. Well, I can do it using NDI virtual input (I think) but I am looking to use all four channels of Live Audio (each controlling its own object) so that would be four separate NDI audio feeds.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Or should I figure something else out?
Thank you in advance!
