Hi,
Having quite a lot of fun piping in numerous NDI sources into different environments.
Stress testing this revealed a bit of a problem in terms in a busy use case with lots of connections coming in and dropping off.
It'd be good to be able to assign the list of current connected NDI sources to a lookup table which is then hardwired to indivdual NDI watchers.
Is there a <listofNDIsources> variable globally accessible?
Cheers as ever,
Rob
Last week, I did a very successful presentation of my new live performance initiative, INVITATION – a Socially Distant Performance Installation.
I used Isadora to control it all and got the live feed from my iPhone using the app: New Tek NDI, which seems to be an older app no longer offered by New Tek. I've used it in previous performances and never had any trouble with it and indeed, this performance went smoothly for the most part. I was told that there were a few jittery moments, which I didn't see because I was in the show.
I should mention the that the wireless network is a dedicated AC3900 router with an extender. One node at each end of the performance space, which is a house, so there are some walls and so on.
This Covid related installation will be ongoing on Friday nights for the next little while and in an effort to grow, we've been experimenting with TWO NDI camera's both from the same model of iPhone X. When I went to the New Tek website to get the app onto my partner's iPhone I learned that the app I have has been replaced by the NDI®|HX, which offers 4K and all sorts of other new features. In comparing the two before last week's performance, I learned that my phone with the old app was smooth and worked well and her phone was unacceptable jittery, even when we dialed down the resolution. No problem, we used my phone for the show with the results mentioned above.
Today we tested again with the idea of using BOTH phones at the same time. Using the New Tek apps, both phones were jittery. I decided to try another app on her phone and found JustWifiCam. Now, her phone is perfectly smooth, but mine is unacceptable jittery. I tried JustWifiCam on both phones with the same result: she's smooth, but I'm not. I have another app called NDICam, which hasn't worked in the past, but does work now but with the same jittery result.
FYI, Isadora doesn't seem to have a problem handling the two NDI inputs. The load is about 70% on my laptop, which is a bit underpowered for this, but works.
I wonder if anyone has any ideas as to why my phone was fine last week but not this week? Even with only one phone connected, her phone is smooth (using JustWifiCam) and mine is jittery (using anything).
Thanks,
Hugh
I've installed NDI Tools 4.5 Virtual Input ("Compatible with Google Hangouts, GoToMeeting, Skype, Zoom, and more") and Isadora 3.0.7 on Mac High Sierra does not start. Had to remove NDI Watcher.izzyplug to have it being able to start again.
Just sayin. Virtual Input is a desirable tool in Covid times.
Sorry if this has been discussed previously, but I wondering if there was a way to set the frame rate of the NDI external output from Isadora? The resolution matches the size of the stage. But the NDI feed created by Isadora seems to default to 119.88i. And I think this high frame rate is causing issues with other program ingesting the NDI feed from Isadora (I'm working with sending video between Isadora and VMix). Also the NDI feed from Isadora seems to automatically be including an alpha channel. Is there a setting to not include an alpha channel? When I output NDI video from VMix, I have a lot more control over the frame rate and if there is an alpha channel in the NDI output. I'm a windows user running Isadora 3.0.7, with NDI 4 tools installed.
Thanks!
Dear All,
Over the last few days I've added a new feature to the NDI Watcher actor: the ability to send the NDI stream's audio to any system audio output device and to simultaneously control the volume.
To use it, simply choose the output device you wish to send the audio to from the 'audio device' popup menu. (Note that we are not supporting ASIO devices on Windows yet. I'll take this under advisement.)
This new audio feature should be considered as an alpha release. I've tested it on MacOS and Windows, and it works for me, but this feature has not been tested by our team or the beta testers -- in other words, for the moment, you should expect it to crash. To avoid crashes, simply leave the 'audio device' set to 'None' which disabled the new feature entirely.
We are putting it out in this state because it is an important addition for anyone using NDI to facilitate remote performances, and people need these features now.
If it works for you, great -- let us know. If not, please report bugs here for now instead of opening tickets on them.

Is it possible to connect NDI tool to isadora 3, not for input but for output, i want using NDI for WYSIWYG with Isadora 3.
Dear Community,
I put together a knowledge base article on how to send Skype's output into Isadora using NDI. (This requires the Skype v8.25.)
You can see the the full article here.
You can also watch NDI's tutorial on this topic.
Right now, there is not a cross platform solution to allow Isadora's output to go into Skype. This can be done on Windows by installing NDI tools which includes a 'virtual webcam' that can receive NDI input. I will update the article to show how to use this virtual webcam sometime this week.
Best Wishes,
Mark
Hello, I would like to select the NDI source of an NDI Watcher from the control panel.
Is it possible?
Thank you
Stefano
Hello,
I'm testing NDI4 watcher and I cannot have a vid-gpu output different from 640x360 , no matter what NDI source reolution I have.
Very good latency by the way. With this Isadora can be a very good NDI processor!!
What about an "NDI projector" ?
Thank you
Stefano
Hello,
I'm connecting 2 mac via a direct ethenet network to send the webcam feed of the first one to the second one, via NDI.
I'v created a virtual stage on the first mac and activate NDI for this stage.
The second mac "receive" the stage name but only shows a BLACK FRAME.
I tested it also thrue "NewTek NDI monitor" that receive also a black frame.
Same problem if its not a virtual stage but a regular one.
An idea?
best year to you all!
