as MatthewH says, have a look at manual, I found it's written almost like a teaching guide as opposed to a traditional manual.
The first thing I'd check though is that once you're set up you have to tell Isadora to 'Show Stages', the quick way to do this is by clicking on the 'Output' menu then 'Show Stages'. On a mac the shortcut is 'cmd' and 'G', I guess it's similar on a pc.

Have you read the introductory section of the manual?
