This is timetravel for me. For an upcoming dance project I’m putting together a projection setup consisting of the macbookpro, matrox tripplehead2g o SE (DVI out) and 3 Optoma projectors (hdmi).

I’ll use Monoprice Select Series USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter to connect the macbookpro to the matrox displayport input. Then DVI to HDMI adapters to connect the matrox DVI out to Monoprice Mini HDMI to 3G-SDI Converter. Then I’ll run SDI cable to Monoprice Mini 3G-SDI to HDMI Converter and finally HDMI cable to Optoma projector.

Does anyone have experience of Monoprice products. They are so much cheaper than Blackmagic. The converters cost about 25USD a piece. For the setup of 3 projectors the total budget for converters and adaptors will be about 185 USD. This is so much cheaper compared to using similar Blackmagic micro HDMI/1,5G SDI converters (85 USD a piece). I'm ordering these from the US to europe so it would be quite a long way to return them if they don't work with Matrox or the Macbookpro.

Reply to Macbookpro thunderbolt3, Matrox tripplehead and Monoprice usbc, sdi-hdmi converters on Mon, 07 Aug 2017 18:24:41 GMT

@Fred Hopefully it will be supported in high sierra. I get your point on displayport flexibility.
