Thank you!! Just tested and it worked with HAP in a .MOV wrapper. Will test with HapAlpha as well. I swear I tried this solution, but I tried so many different combinations that at this point who knows.

Thank you so much for your help!

EDIT: For anyone coming here from a future search, I did indeed test with HapAlpha and it worked as well.

justin.paice

Reply to Error = 42 Hap Playback on Tue, 18 Oct 2022 20:44:07 GMT

@justin-paice

I do not have Resolve studio, so I had to connect Voukoder to Vegas Pro. What I have found is that the AVI wrapper raises the error that you noted, while using an Mov wapper works on both systems ( I tested on a M1 Mac running the latest macOS beta).

If you go to the 'Output' section of the Voukoder dialogue, and change the Container from AVI to MOV, you should be able to create cross-platform HAP videos using Voukoder.

I am investigating why some AVI Hap files raise this Error = 42, while other AVI Hap files do not.
A similar issue while converting photo-jpeg videos using Shutter Encoder was helped by using a setting to maintain metadata, which changed the writing application seen with Media Info from Lavf59... to Quicktime. Voukoder doesn't appear to have an equivalent setting.

The MOV wrapper is more reliable at this time for cross-platform development since different encoders seem to produce AVI files with different attributes.

DusX

Reply to Error = 42 Hap Playback on Tue, 18 Oct 2022 13:00:37 GMT

@justin-paice

I work in Resolve as well, so I will give your workflow a try and report back.

DusX
