Chavet DMX-4/Enttec/Izzy Problem
-
I am wanting to control non-DMX lights through Isadora and found the Chauvet DMX-4, which looked promising. In order to get from that unit into the computer I am using a Enttec DMX USB Pro. Isadora doesn't see the unit. Should it? I'm new to setting up lighting through IZZY.

@citizenjoe When I got to the Serial Ports it doesn't recognize the Chauvet, which is where the DMX menus are.

But does it recognise the Enttec dongle? My Enttec Pro never had a problem nor a dropout.

Hi,
Not an expert at setting lights through Isadora, but I’m pretty familiar with lighting setups. Here’s how it should work:
• Connect the USB/DMX dongle to your computer.
• To check if it’s recognized, go to About This Mac and see if the USB device shows up under one of the USB ports.
• Connect the DMX out of the Enttec to the DMX input of the Chauvet dimmer pack.
• On the Chauvet, use the menu to set the mode to DMX.
• Set the starting address of the pack on the Chauvet (e.g., 1).
• In Isadora, use the serial setup and DMX actors — Gapworks or CitizenJoe can probably help set that up.
• Once configured, when you bring channel 1 to 100% in Isadora, the light connected to socket 1 on the Chauvet pack should go full on.Same goes for channels 2, 3, and 4.
Hope this helps

@bvg73 Thanks much for the help. After trying it all on my iMac and not having success, I went to my laptop with the M1 chip and it made all the difference. Since they both have the same operating system I'm guessing that is what made the difference? I'm now hooked up and working and figuring out the Matrix Value Send Actor and its relation to the Channels on the Chauvet, which is a bit counterintuitive at this point but I'm getting that sorted. Again, thanks!
