OpenNI Tracker v0.9.7 - Public Beta
-
Dear Community,
Below you will find the links for the OpenNI Tracker public beta, which now supports Kinect v1, Kinect v2, Orbbec Astra and Intel Realsense D435 depth cameras.
I know you are all excited to get your hands on this. But I really need everyone to agree to these ground rules:
1) Read the Release Notes: When you first open the plugin, a dialog will appear saying you are about to be shown important information. Read the page that opens in your browser completely, with special attention to the list of known issues. If you read this document, you won't be frustrated trying to get something to work that we already know doesn't work.
2) Add Your Operating System and Hardware Setup in Your Signature Line: to help us help you better, it is the convention here on the forum that you put your operating system and primary hardware setup in your signature line. That way we don't have to ask every single time you have an issue. (You can set your signature line by clicking on icon in the top right corner and choosing "Edit Profile...")
3) When Posting Bugs, Give as Much Detail As Possible: If you post a bug, make sure you've set your signature line as mentioned in #2 above, and then give us as much detail as you can about what went wrong.
4) Be Patient: Please remember, our "team of coders" consists of a grand total of one person: me. I will be working as fast as humanly possible to fix issues you identify here, but please be patient while waiting for him to address your particular issue. This project is not the only thing on my plate.
5) "It Worked for Me!" Is Also Useful: Obviously people will post here if they have problems. But a message saying "Working for me on Mojave with a Kinect v2" is also helpful to see, because then we can start to gauge the number of successes vs. failures.
Some additional notes:
Kinect v2 Support: We have tested the Kinect v2 support on MacOS High Sierra (10.13), Mojave (10.14) and Catalina (10.15). We are not making any promises about other versions of macOS. (I know for sure it doesn't run on Yosemite.) On Windows 10, don't forget to install the Kinect for Windows v2.0 SDK as indicated in the release notes.
Intel Realsense Firmware: If you have an Intel Realsense, you'll need to upgrade your firmware to the latest version because we've updated our drivers to the latest version offered by Intel. If you're on Windows you can get the the Depth Quality Tool application to update your firmware. We are preparing a solution for macOS which I will post in this thread here on the forum as soon as it's ready.
** BREAKING ISSUE ** The Intel Realsense D435 does not seem to work on macOS Catalina. This may have to do with one of Catalina's security limitations because v0.9.7 works fine on High Sierra and Mojave for me. I will investigate. Finally, please note I will not be online for the rest of the day, May 30th. I will check this thread tomorrow, June 1st to see how people are doing with this new build.
So with all of this in mind, please download the OpenNI Tracker for your platform and let the games begin.

Dear All,
I believe the issue with the Intel Realsense on macOS Catalina is solved. If you have a Realsense, you should download the plugin again using the link above. An updated version was uploaded at 10:05am (Berlin time) on Sunday, May 31st.
Also, I've updated the thread about updating the firmware on the Realsense, including a solution for macOS.
Best Wishes,

Dear All,
Please post your bug reports and feedback in the thread dedicated to that purpose.
Thank you,
Mark
