Video Input without blackmagic

I am doing a project where I need a live video input coming in over BNC. I understand that Isadora can work with Blackmagic and the UltraStudio Mini Recorder. I am wondering if there is any other video input interfaces out there that are cheeper that would also do the trick. I have tried to use a USB webcam with a usb extender but because of the length of run, that doesn't seem to be a good solutation. Wondering if anyone knows of a cheeper video input interface that works with Isadora? Also is there anyway to use a POE IPCAM for live video input into Isadora?

If you use active USB cables you can make a longer run. Please be aware that this method is also limited. (Check online regarding brands / etc)
Yes you can use IP cams in Isadora using something like Syphon. Basically what you need is two screens. One that is your main Isadora patching screen and one screen that acts as the display of your camera. If you then use a Screen to Syphon / Spout plugin you can get the feed in Isadora. Please be aware that there will be some delay and it heavily depends on the camera that you are using.

So there is no way to have a POE Camera feed directly into isadora. It is an interactive piece and the feed if possible can't have delay. This is the only reason I ask.

There is no native way to do that. You can always try to use a IP camera and see how much delay it is giving and or the resolution is workable for you

@dstrohan IP cameras have a lot of delay, they encode the stream to h264 and then it needs to be decoded. They are also generally bad for tracking (you say it is interactive so I guess you want tracking) as they don't give much control over the image, and many dont let you set a fixed exposure so they are impossible to work with and they are not that cheap.
BNC is a cable type it can carry many protocols, do you mean Composite video or SDI?
USB cameras can run over long lengths but you need a proper USB extension system, something like this http://www.gefen.com/product/u..., but depending on your platform you may or may not get manual control.
If you are just using the image you can try using an IOS device and this https://www.newtek.com/softwar... and receive NDI you will need to maintain a wifi network which is not always as easy at it seems.
Blackmagic capture starts pretty cheap, about 140 euros for SDI and HDMI, if you need composite the price jumps up a bit, but you can also use a very cheap composite to HDMI converter. At any rate an SDI equipped security camera can be found for 50 bucks https://nl.aliexpress.com/item...

@brunomartelli no, they use SMPTE standards. Please do you research on the Blackmagic site, there are many models with different capabilities.

@brunomartelli the camera i posted outputs SMPTE 1.5ghz standards over SDI, so 1080i 50/60, 1080p 25/30 720p 50/60.
It seems like you are using a tower PC with pcie slots, you can get a decklink pcie model like the mini recorder. But this has limitations you might regret in the future. The Blackmagic site has precise capture specs for all models and you can decide to pay a little more for 3, 6 or 12g capability for future proofing (as long as you have the appropriate pcie slot free), there is even a drop down filter to filter by the bandwidth in the site. 1.5ghz is generally SMPTE 259M and 292M compliant. Thunderbolt and USB models also have quite a lot of choice and price range.

I can report BlackMagic Decklink Mini Recorder with SW 10.11 works with its own software and Isadora and SDI CCTV cam, but video source not recognised by other apps e.g VLC. Blackmagic Technical support says they stopped supporting DirectShow.
So anyone want to buy a BM Decklink Mini recorder?
Or know of any other way to connect SDI CCTV cam to a PC? (i have a custom machine learning app that is wanting the CCTV cam feed) -

@brunomartelli ffmpeg can be compiled with the Blackmagic SDK, openframeworks, processing, cinder and vvvv can all utilise the SDK for capture, there is also blackspout that will output spout from Blackmagic capture. There is even a python module for capturing through the SDK. There is usable capture support from so many different approaches, it is pretty trivial to add it to your custom software.

I feel the need to point out that any commercial software utilizing ffmpeg is doing so illegally.
