As far as I am aware most of the effects in mapping projects are pre-made using various video and 3D editing tools. At least that is how I would do it. Some interactive stuff I would do with Isadora indeed.

Yes, that effect is generally premade in 3d and requires a matching point of view (lens distortion and angle) to get it right.

there are premade sets of videos with similar effects available that can give you some of the same feel... Might be worth testing.

This is done in something like cinema 4d or Houdini. The workflow is not that hard but you need to choose a perspective to render that best matches where people see the image from. Render the image from that perspective and map it to the building. It can help to get an export of the uv map as well for calibration.

First of all: Thanks for all the valuable input! The week was a bit busy here, but finally I managed to look into this matter. I can see, that using a 3d program might be the easiest to blow up a 3d model. Both shader toy and the AE link point towards a video that gets blown up. That was somehow, what I was thinking off: rebuilding the videopicture from different smaller bits in IZZY and try to animate them... Lets see, what it becomes ;o)

There is this aftereffects tutorial that does a fair job. It's procedural so if you swap up some assets it could work for some other types of decay/explosion/crumbles

After Effects and the shatter effect is a simple starting point.

AE is pretty straight forward, indeed. Thank you very much ;O)
