Please add support for NDI and NDI HX. NDI is currently supported by Mitti and Millumen. The HX version is supported in a beta version of Millumen. NDI is a totally superior way to do both wireless iPhone stuff and video over ethernet. I am also now trying out the NewTek spark and it works very well, very low latency by ethernet and uses its HX version which is much lower bandwidth requirement. All very very stable and an amazing solution for low latency long cable run situations. Would love to be able to use directly in Isadora. Will for the moment be sending it from Millumen by syphon but not sure if I want to go into a production in a few weeks using Millumen beta. Hope this can be figured out soon!

        Please see this thread:
        https://community.troikatronix...

Everything's already in place to use NDI in Isadora via Spout (PC) or Syphon (Mac).
Furthermore there is an Openframeworks add in here if you're feeling more adventurous!

Hope this gives you enough tools for your production.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm familiar with the thread. That is what got me to where I am now in using NDI. Just seems a natural for Isadora to embrace it and offer access to NDI either as an actor or as a camera input.

I'm already using syphon extensively but I'd rather be able to open an actor directly in Isadora. Sienna's NDI monitor just monitors and doesn't send syphon, few other solutions currently exist on the MAC for NDI HX which is what I need other than Millumen. But it is $799. Works great and I might switch but as a long time Isadora user I would also rather not have to totally switch paradigms.

My up coming show has multiple iPhones sending NDI and a Newtek spark sending NDI HX. Millumen handles these flawlessly and can syphon this over to Isadora but why not just have it already there to begin with?

Because of your post, I downloaded the SDK and examined it. The main thing is that NDI's libraries for Mac OS is 64 bit only, and Isadora is a 32 bit application (At least for the moment, but will change in the coming months since we know that the next revision of Mac OS X will not run 32 bit applications.) At this moment in time, supporting NDI on Mac OS would mean writing a kind of "bridge" software between Isadora and some kind of "faceless" background 64-bit application to do the interface. (On Windows, they still support 32 bit... don't know why they don't have it on Mac OS too.) I'm sorry that we haven't adopted it sooner, but really you are the first person to make an explicit feature request regarding this. We will add it, but I can't make any promises about when.

In the meantime, as pointed out above, you don't need Millumen to use NDI with Isadora. Just the Syphon <> NDI apps available here.

Sorry to let you down on that.

            Best Wishes,

              Mark,

Thank you so much for your reply. Look forward to whenever it does get integrated and totally get that it might be awhile. I have work arounds for now.

Unfortunately, the Syphon NDI apps don't do NDI HX. Currently the syphon apps only do regular NDI which works great for iPhones but not the new HX hardware that NewTek has put out.I might try to bug them and see if they will add. Sienna has added it to their NDI monitor at my request so who knows.

In case anyone is interested, I have tested and am using both the NewTek spark and their NDI PTZ camera. Both work great. Currently running over 250 ft of ethernet cable. No issues. Worked pretty much right out of the box. Very low latency (at least for me). Helping me move beyond my various analog to digital convertors. And the PTZ camera is really great quality. Expensive but can imagine using it in performance a lot.
