      Re: [VR gloves](/topic/2940/vr-gloves)

Hi, does anyone know how to get data from Perception Neuron (https://neuronmocap.com/) to use in Isadora?

      Thanks.

It uses TCP protocol so there is a chance it could work.

This page shows how to set it up via Notch (nothing to do with Isadora) but it does help with generic set up workflow. https://support.neuronmocap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001952513-Perception-Neuron-Notch-Configuration-

Looking at the documentation there doesn't appear to be any OSC support. They offer tcpip and udp. Isadora does not offer a generic udp interface so only tcp-ip is left as an option. I havent tried to connect to a data stream like this using that actor so I can't give any recommendations. The also offer a c++ sdk. That's a possibility if you are familiar with programming.

Thanks Graham & Ryan.  I'm not confident with programming and was hoping there would be some ways to harvest the data into Isadora.   I'll look at the links you provided.

@Chumcw Hi, just wondering if you had any luck with exploring this connection between the Perception Neuron suit and Isadora? Ta!

I swear I've heard of people using it with Isadora.

Failing that, we have native support for the Rokoko Smartsuit Pro in a beta plugin.

                  Best wishes,

You might have heard my students asking for it. We have three on site - Roughly two years ago we did a show using The Perception Neuron suit and we investigated it's workflow, we attempted to get the data directly into Isadora but it was not possible/We ran out of time.

@Woland @Skulpture Thank you both for the info! I've got a Perception Neuron Pro suit on it's way out to me, I'll do some experimenting and see if I make any progress - will go down the c++ programming route when time/money permits.

And yes, will definitely keep an eye on the Rokoko SmartSuit beta plugin! That's an exciting development.

Thanks again - and please share any other advice you might have as I start my testing!

The hardware/software uses  BVH motion data through TCP/IP or UDP protocol. The documentation is quite good actually. This will help get you started:

                              Hi all,

Just closing the loop on my exploration with the Perception Neuron Pro (2020 model) and Isadora 3. After experimentation in Dec '20, I was able to get real-time XYZ coordinates for each tracker on the PN Pro into Isadora as a separate OSC feed via Unity + an OSC Unity patch.

Data flow = PN Pro tracker > Perception Neuron Pro Studio (w/ Unity Integration https://neuronmocap.com/softwa...) > Unity w/ OSC patch (https://thomasfredericks.githu...) > Isadora via OSC stream.

Then used the OSC streams to move some shapes around and influence effects. More testing required to see how useful this is in a live show context, will share project details at a later date!

                              - Tessa

                                Hello,

I've got a non pro model. I did the same route through Unity. But I'd rather not do that. A c++ would new great. If anyone has some hints for that I can test.

                                Thanks
