[SOLVED] Audio problem with multiple stage output

Am trying to set up an installation using five projectors with five 1920x 1080 clips all synchronized to the same audio track. Three clips are H.264 and two are ProRes 422 HQ. One ProRes clip has the audio clip has audio. After about three or four seconds the audio stops and the playback is choppy although the performance monitor says the playback is 29 - 30 fps with a target of 30 fps. Is it important to have all clips in the same format?

Any help would be really cool!

@ray It is not mandatory, but I would for sure do proress. If you need super tight sync it may also be better to make one mega movie, 9600 * 1080 (I have done 3*HD wide, but never this big, maybe it is too much). This way you play one movie and it is always dead sync even if the system slows down.

You don't have any specifications for the machine in question, nor do you mention if you're using Isadora 2 or Isadora 3, or if you're on Mac or a PC. All of that information is incredibly helpful in offering you guidance.

That said, If it's a Mac Book Pro with a fast SSD (1500 MB/S) then I'd follow Fred's idea but you might try with HAP as the decoding overhead will go down to zero -- essentially the data goes directly into the GPU. The main point is that a file of that size needs fast SSDs. (A HAPQ @ 9600 x 1080 = 10,368,000 bytes per frame = 311,040,000 bytes per second at 30 fps = 311 Mb/S.)

If you have a standard external SSD (500 MB/S) or a slower, physically spinning drive, you might need to consider going to H264 to get the bandwidth down -- though of course the decoding overhead of the latter will jam your CPU.

If you provide your system specifications I can do a bit better in offering advice.

Thanks a million! That did the trick. I owe you a dinner if you ever visit Michel let me know, I live a half hour away. I still don't understand why the audio was cutting out but then again there are many things in this world I still don't understand.
