[TICKET CREATED] Stage freezes
-
Hi,
Today we have our first show using ISADORA. Nothing complicated. Just cueing soundtrack and some mapped PNGs in sequential order.
The bad thing is that sometimes my Stage output freezes. No user intervention, since the cues are timed. The strange thing is that in the controls window it still works fine. But the image on the projector is frozen.
It does not happen always, even not very often, and when it does it is at different points in time. What scares me most is this being random. So I have no control.
The LOAD is very low, always below 10.
Any clue about what could be going wrong?
Thanks

Please submit bug reports as tickets rather than via the forum. There is a link in my signature.
We will need to know the version of Isadora you are using, the details about the media you are using, and the make, model, and operating system of the computer you are using.

Not sure if that's a bug or something I might be doing wrong, but I'll file a bug report tomorrow, after some more testing.
Tks.

If you have a show on, it's better for us and you to bring us in to diagnose a possible issue earlier rather than later. The longer you wait to tag us in, the less time we have to try to diagnose any possible issue.
If you post your patch I can take a look at it and try to see why your sequence of images is stopping. I'd particularly like to take a look at the timing element you programmed, as a component of what you programmed there may be the root of the behavior you are seeing.
(P.S. If you're using a Counter actor to cycle the images, make sure you have it set to "wrap" not "limit" otherwise it won't loop back through once it gets to the end of the sequence. If you're using the Shuffle actor to randomize the sequence, make sure you have "auto" enabled so that, similarly, it will start over when it has reached the end of the sequence.)

The stage unfreezes by hiding it and showing it again.
I'll send you the patch... not the most elegant.
The show is a WORK IN PROGRESS, so still in time for the real thing.

Phew, you had me a bit worried with this line.

No worries, we're here to help, not to judge :)

Was there any update to this?
Plaguing me right now and it's basically made Isadora unusable (i've already submitted a support request).

I can't be sure that this is the same problem you are experiencing because it seems we were never able to get steps that would cause the issue to happen 100% of the time, which means we couldn't diagnose the issue. That being said, I do think that it has to do with one or more of the media files being used.
Best wishes,

Hi there, I think I found out a possible cause of freezes during video playback: After trying many, many things I found that (at least for now) switching the mediaplayer from Timecode to percent, prevents the freezes. I found that because I had random freezes in just one of my patches, which I use for a particular show, but not on other ones being quite similar. Once I realised the difference was in the player "mode" it has been working fine. Not sure if it was the cause, but so far so good. The solution might be: DO NOT USE TIMECODE MODE DURING A PERFORMANCE.
Hope that helps
