OpenGL v.2 issue
-
I have a Dell XPS15 with nVidia GeoForceGTX 1650 graphics card. Isadora 3 runs fine on the shared graphics setting until I try to use the webcam, and then there is not live input. Using the nVidia control panel, I followed your very clear instructions to change the graphics card settings to Manage 3D settings use the High-performance nVidia graphics card only. But now Isadora won't launch because it says the OpenGL version is 1.1. So when I go back to the default graphics settings (Auto-select: Integrated) Isadora will run fine only no webcam input. This is a brand-new machine...is it possible that this machine is really running an old version of OpenGL, or is there some other issue I don't know about? I'm sorry to ask this question if it seems naive, but I am brand new to the PC world and am swimming a bit with drivers, etc.
Thanks for looking at this.

OpenGL 1.1 is ancient. I am kind of shocked a new machine would ship with that. You should try to update the video drivers.
Please try this web page for instructions.
You can also get drivers directly from nVidia.
If this doesn't solve the problem, then please open a ticket so that our Windows expert @DusX can help you directly.

Hi, @jtoenjes
This is I think as Mark sayed a driver issue.
I also have an XPS15 with GTX1650, and Isadora 3 is running perfectly on it. This is a modern GPU, quite decent for an actual thin and light laptop.
Have you launched the Dell update application to make all your drivers updated ?
As Mark pointed, you can use drivers directly from nVidia's website.
Best

I wonder that I can't use the built-in graphics card instead of the nVidia card. I am currently trying to download the nVidia drivers, but it's a large download. I ran the OpenGL viewer app and it reported that the Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 card is running OpenGL version 4.6. This app won't even see the nVidia card.
Is there a reason I couldn't run Isadora v3 using the integrated graphics card? Isadora crashes when trying to use Live Capture with the integrated webcam with this UHD Graphics 630 card, even when I specify that Isadora should use it, and not the nVidia GeForce, in the nVidia control panel.
Thanks for taking time to school me in the crazy world of PC drivers, etc. Or might there be some problem here? How do you set up your system for Isadora, @keftaparty?

This should be possible, though it will be less efficient.
Look at this link from nVidia under "Program Settings"
@DusX can you add any advice?
Best WIshes,

Thanks Mark. I actually was able to download the latest driver from Dell and Isadora seems to be working now. But the question about the integrated graphics card still stands-=-I wonder why Izzy is crashing while using that card, with OpenGL 4.6. I'm sure you've received some error logs from my machine by now.

Oh, maybe this explains it, from the link you sent me:
"
Programs and videos that launch on external displays that are driven by the NVIDIA GPU will always use the NVIDIA GPU rather than the integrated graphics processor."Thanks...I don't want to take much more of your time on my little issue. I know you have a million other things to do.
