I think using the media bin to import and organize the media can be useful.

the workflow may not require to be in edit mode.

-drag and drop of files  straight into media bin

-reordering and deleting and replacing media from within the media bin

-marked area in the thumbnail or a key combo could allow for media bin operations

-individual media can be locked into place

Agreed, I think it's very useful.

Are you talking about the Media View on the right, or the Bin Picker Control? Your mention of "edit mode" makes me think you're talking about the Control.

You can already do this with the Media View: https://recordit.co/EfW2ebXKI8

Again, to me it seems like you're writing about the Bin Picker Control. But all of the functionalities you've described so far already exist for the Media View.

The default behavior when you import media with the top bar menu option, keyboard shortcut, or right-click menu is to import it into the topmost bin that matches its media type. However, if you import media by dragging it into the Media View, you can make sure that it's imported without changing the numbers of your existing media by dragging and dropping it into the Media View below the existing media: https://recordit.co/TDxX6lio2F

        Best wishes,

@Woland thanks for the prompt reply

I'm talking about media bin picker in the control panel.

The media bin pallet works well in most cases. In some cases, I think, it would be beneficial to have the ability both import and play media from one place in the control panel.
