Dummy ZoomOSC call to test osc control in Izzy
-
@armando You have some options. You can use our script support to join a meeting without logging in, and you can spin up many instances. When we scale test, we manually set up the first meeting, then we run a script by placing it next to the application. You should modify the script to use the proper zoom ID and password, and please be careful when using this script as I have not had time to use it on the pre-release build you have.
Your basic script will look something like[WITHDRAWN FOR SECURITY REASONS]
etc.
repeating the lines for as many copies as you want to spin up.
The name of the browser extension escapes me and I am also unable to find it via Google right now. Ask Office Hours?
I hope this helps!

Thanks Andy I am not sure I understand, my English is not that good. What I understood to do is :
[REDACTED FOR SECURITY REASONS]
Thanks
-
@armando Sorry, should have clarified, put the code into a .sh file and run the file.

@liminal_andy Thank you for your help.
I feel ashamed. I have never launched a script from the terminal so I must do something wrong. In addition to that this maybe a bit off topic here. But There are a few points that are still unclear to me
[REDACTED FOR SECURITY REASONS]
If I do this nothing happens.
Sorry to bother Andy, I feel like someone asking to General Motors CEO how to change a tyre...

@armando No worries! While I was able to get this running (see my little army haha) let me try to find the tool I had heard mentioned before. In the meantime, ask the Office Hours group that we are doing the training with to help you if you want to scale-test features. There are hundreds of people there who are more than happy to jump on calls and test things themselves. Zoom Test Kitchen also happens every Tuesday and Friday I believe.
I think the subject of getting dummy Zoom participants is plenty relevant for the forum because it happens all the time in tele-performance when you need to program the show when actors are not present.
I have also opened a ticket on our end here at Liminal to get someone to help you directly as my attention is very split these days and I want to get you help ASAP.

@armando The name I was searching for is sessionbox! This should help.
SessionBox (Chrome extension or application) - https://sessionbox.io/
A free 30 day trial should allow you to conduct the tests you need.

My dear friend, have you try the duo obs.ninja (peer to peer exchange on the web) and OBS?
Perhaps you can find there a solution for your peoblems.
See you sometime,
Jacques

a Thousand thanks, Andy. I'll try. In the meantime you make me think. Don't you think it would be a valuable addition to Zoom OSC to add a local test setup? You think it would be a complicated ? You know your priorities better. But I am starting to dream of another icon/button in the ZoomOSC that appears just after logging in. "Video Meeting", "Audio Meeting" "Going meeting" "Test meeting" (or "Dummy meeting" maybe ?). It could lead to another window asking what number of participants we want. Maybe with auto assigned fake names or we could be asked to put the names so they can mach talent's names we are working with. Just a white 16:9 rectangle in each pane for a couple of panes should be more than enough to learn the commands, test your Isadora patches already produced and make our own user actors.
Juste dreaming...

@armando I am realizing that my script could be used for nefarious purposes, so I have withdrawn it from this public forum. Instead, I have privately messaged you the solution.

Andy - I am dipping my toe into ZoomOSC land with Office Hours and your Saturday sessions, and am a longtime Isadora very basic user. I am having no luck with Benjamin's script multi-session MacOS script, and I am sure it is pilot error. Restrictions on which browser will support my sessions, exact terminology for userNamePrefix, etc. (I see some entries in quotations, others not, when is that crucial). I don't mean to ask for an intro to coding session, but if there are a few simple tips, or somewhere I can go to get some of these basics sorted out, I'd be very grateful (I think I could get going if I could get off the ground!). Thanks for any help,
Peter

@phsprague no problem. Im working with someone to create a perpetual Zoom meeting for everyone to test in. Let me see if we are good to bring it online.
If you need scripting support, shoot an email to info@liminalet.com and we can try to help you there.

Thanks, Andy! You are like a super(creative)man! I will be using this for figuring out better ways for my undergrads and colleagues to implement remote performances in a theatre program, so it is fantastic to work toward this with folks who understand what that is and what those needs are!
cheers,
Peter
