Mark + World Technology Awards 2012 = Gratitude

Hello All,
Yes indeed, to my surprise and pleasure, I was awarded the World Technology Award 2012 in the category of the arts.The award is given to the person the World Technology Network deems to be giving "the most innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance." The award recognizes my contribution as a composer, media artist and long-time director of the performance group Troika Ranch, as the creator of Isadora, and for my contribution as a teacher who has shared his aesthetic vision and technical know-how through innumerable workshops across the globe.The award itself is in the form of a glass cube with a laser etched brain in the center. So know I have two brains. Perhaps that will allow me to move a bit quicker when solving bugs in Isadora. ;-)Thanks to all of you for the good wishes and support. Wow!!!!!!!! You beat Golan!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!! I knew it!!!!!! And I'm glad to be among the persons that knew of your value before you even thought of Isadora (immediately after meetin back in '99)! And to have been the frst to teach an isadora corse 0.7b for mac at the Universityç!!!!

A huge congrats to you, Mark! you totally deserve this. I'm so glad that the world hasn't underestimate the amount of contribution and inspiration you've been bringing into the world of innovative technology in interactive/performance arts. You've indeed totally change the way I create art and opened up so much possibilities as an artist/collaborator. I can't tell the world enough about how amazing this has been, yet this award speaks louder than anything that I can say. I'm so happy that this is happening and hope the isadora community will continue to grow, and I really cannot live without this software! haha.

Congratulations for a well deserved honor. Your selfless and dedicated work on Isadora has made a program that opens an enormous world to anyone who ventures in. It has allowed me to work from a philosophy that I think is important in dance - that the dancer, working with the choreographer, is a creative collaborator and contributer to a performance in real-time. Isadora has allowed me to go beyond creating dances, to create situations for dance. You are an inspiration not only for your programming skills, but also for your artistic work and collaborations, and for your work ethic, your willingness to give to the community, your work on Creative Commons, etc.

Hi Mark, congratulations! I think Isadora paves a completely new way for video-performances around the globe. I myself witnessed its success in Moscow, Russia, once I brought the first copy in 2010 with me. Since then theaters started accepting it one by one to replace or add to the much more expensive and complex media server solutions. Moscow Art Theatre, Fomenko Theatre workshop, Satyricon Theatre, Lenkom theatre -- are the best venues in Moscow, which fell to the charms of Isadora since then. Two of my own Isadora engagements were nominated for the Golden Mask (small-scale production in 2011, large-scale production in 2012), and they would not be possible without Isadora. So, from ze bottom ov mai hart, thank you very much, Comrade!
