[ANSWERED/GLSL SHADER] Using Two Projectors To Increase Brightness (works in v2, not in v3?)
-
Greetings all
In V2 you could take a video or whatever actor with a output, and connect it to a projector actor. IF you added a second identical projector actor and connected it to the output. it would increase the over all brightness out put. it would go from 100% to like 130%. it was a nice cheat to get a little more brightness. you had to use the additive blend to make it work.
In V3 this neat little trick does not seem to work. does anyone know how to make it work? or how to push things just a little more?thanks

Hi,
The effect appears to be as you have described it when I try in Isadora 3.0.8

@bonemap That is exactly what I want to do. for some reason sense the update it just wont happen. Not sure what i am doing wrong. i have started with a new file and just put in an image with two projectors with no changes at all. and still nothing.

Hi,
Not sure why you have something different going on. I am using the latest Isadora release for Mac on a MacBook Pro.
Best wishes

Just one thing to note, though as you write you have tried with a new file. As soon as you opened the mapping window you have to do the blend inside the Izzy Mapper, otherwise you won't see the effect.

I can confirm, MacBook Pro 16" Catalina, Isadora 3.0.8f11 works like expected
When izzy map is active, the blend mode is inactive (grayed) and shows 'map'.
Best,

I've also found that this effect doesn't work on all video files. Perhaps try several files, just for testing purposes?
Cheers,

As other users have pointed out, this 'trick' does seem to work in the latest release.
But better yet, why not use this GLSL Shader actor called "Brightness Control" in the attached patch, which I've just made for you. It can adjust the brightness of the image from 0 to 1000%. That way you don't have to use the workaround of two projectors.
Best Wishes,

Mark, that's brilliant!
Question: when decreasing the brightness from 100, does the shader work any differently the Intensity control on the Projector Actor?
Cheers,
Hugh

No. ;-)
