Midi to Sound
-
Hello everyone,
does somebody know a relaible option to synthesize a click tone with the help of Isadora? Maybe by some midi stuff?
I'm on MacOS and found the AU MIDISynth, but have no clue how it works.
I looked for some simple MIDI Synthesizer tools, which would get the Midi notes and generates the tones, but could not find any simple one.
Maybe someone has an advice?

I just found GuruSession #16. Unfortunatly Simple Snyth isn't working in Catalina anymore. Does anyone can propose an alternative?

I cannot say if it is working with Catalina but there is a good chance while the last version is from 2021.

Thank you @jfg,
but this is a MIDI out only keyboard. From the pages description:
"It doesn't produce any sound
by itself, but can be used to drive a MIDI synthesizer (either hardware or
software, internal or external)."
What I'm looking for, is the other end. The sound making synthesizer. -
it is also possible to use it as a synthesizer wth the standart midi instruments

Thank you @jfg,
I wasn't aware, there is a synth module integrated with MacOS. I'm wondering why it isn't possible to use it in Isadora directly. Or is this the 'MIDISynth' AU actor? I would really like to know if and how it works.

you can route to any synth your able to install.
This one is free: https://tytel.org/helm/
I like working with it

Sorry, I'm confused. Route it from where? Directly out of Izzi? How?
Or do you refer to vmpk?
As the vmpk output option where you choose 'DLS MIDISynth' is called 'midi out', I was wondering, why it isn't shown in the Isasora MIDISetup settings. (MIDI Port out)
I'd like the Idea to prevent the use of a third software if it's possible. -
@dillthekraut
i've made percussion tracks purely in Isadora using the Speak Text actor. its a bit rough, but gets the job done. -

Here I am sending MIDI notes to the Helm synth (works with most any standalone synth or DAW). Helm then sends the sound to the sound device ( I am using Voice Meeter Banana because it allows me to mix multiple channels into the final output)
I am routing the MIDI through my Roland Rubix soundcard, but I could also do this using loopMIDI(virtual midi cables)... on Mac you can use Isadora's built in virtual midi cables.
PS: this patch is noisy fun :)
