      Hi all

I have a question that concerns Isadora but the issue is not isadora itself...!

I have an iphone XR connected via NDI to Isadora and that connection is all fine.

I am then outputting that to a TV hung in portrait mode.

All of this is on a mac mini running Catalina

My issue is with the orientation of the iphone. At the moment, when I hang the phone in landscape mode, it displays the signal on the screen in portrait mode and does the opposite when the phone is in landscape mode with the image being displayed in portrait mode. The image is completely at odds with the presentation of the device. Needless to say, this is not how the great unwashed envisioned the piece to be shown.

I have tried this with my android phone and the same thing is happening.

I have done the google thing but I cannot find a description or solution to suit the correct orientation for iPhone & The TV.

Has anybody encountered this before and if so, I would be grateful if you could pass on the solution?!

As said, this is not strictly and isadora issue but something I did not expect to become an issue...

      Many thanks

It might be obvious, but anyway: Have you tried to lock the auto orientation mode of the phone?

          Thanks for this.

I have tried a multiple of configurations with screen orientating and mirroring but to no avail. From my reading, it seems that this is a limitation of the OS and there has been a long list of complaints and requests for this to be an option.

At the moment, I am trying to have an interactive webpage on the iphone display be successfully mirrored onto a TV hung in portrait mode. Originally, I had posted stating NDI feed but it turns out there is more to my little bundle of joy. The information and requirements had changed but the information was slow in coming to me.

I am now looking at various mirroring options e.g. Reflector, duet, air play etc. Hopefully one of them will tick the box.

As said, it was not strictly an isadora issue but initially it was and I figured the greater collective here had done similar or worse in previous times.

Many thanks and i will continue my hunt for a suitable solution.

            Hi all

Just updating on my solution for this.

I am using 2no. apps to achive this.

I have an interactive website (facial recognition) that I access via the iPhone. I needed to project/share this screen to a HD screen in portrait beside.

I am running Isadora using the screen capture actor.

I am using an app called Reflector 4 which sits on the centre of the 1st screen. With a bit of creative izzy mapping and the screen capture actor, I am able to send the phone to the TV. The image is grainy and definitely there is a loss in quality. It is enough for me at this point and works on an autostart.

The connection to Reflector is a manual one via screen mirroring on the iphone but very easy to achieve and once active does not drop (not yet).

This can be marked as solved unless some one has a more elegant solution.

            Many thanks

I am not sure to really understand what you are looking for but if I do, you can try this:

you need a gyroscope app on your smartphone. If to don't want to adapt the size of the picture between landscape and portrait on the tv you only need to change the spin value (-90 or 90)

              best Jean-François

AirServer is another possible alternative for mirroring
