Update 3.1.1 and Kinect?
Hi there,
I am pressently working out some new patches with the Open NI Tracker using a Kinect (xbox) camera (1414)
I didnt yet update to version 3.1.1 mainly because I had a performance and needed to make sure nothing happened.
At first this camera worked very smoothly, but I am starting to have some problems at times where I cannot get Isadora to show either the Kinect or the Live camera at all. Today as if like magic it worked again after 2,5 hours yesterday with no luck. (I tried everything from restarting computer, resetting preferences and cleaning out my laptop.
I am wondering - is some of this a matter of me needing an update? Or is it me making something that might be too heavy (when this happens I see no movement and Isadora crashes. Right now it is frozen in Isadora with a colorful mouse circle just doing its thing (as I tried to save before closing);) and I have to find a way to close it down after writing this.My question is - if some of these issues might be better in version 3.1.1 ? and in terms of updating, do I just go to the "Get It" and download where it says Isadora 3 to the left? I cant seem to find any specific option for updating, and I am realising that I haven't really done this before. The other option could be that my computer is too slow and this of course I just have to deal with. But if some of you people in here know better, it will be much apreciated:) (Since it is frosen it is hard to take a picture, but I have been working with a silhouette of a body moving with a video or photo colouring it timed by 6 in a circle. As I tried to change from photo to video it started crashing. Below is a screenshot from when it worked;)
Also if you have other tricks for this to work, I will be very thankful.
All the best Eva -
I think you are just finding the edges of the Kinect OpenNI interface. It can be very picky about initiating. You need to activate things in the correct order. If it does crash, you will be best served to power off all parts and start them up again in sequence. I suspect that if you are careful about doing this you will find it becomes more reliable.
Isadora 3.1.1 may include some fixes that help you, but nothing I can think of that is specific to OpenNI.
You can install 3.1.1 and keep your current installed version. (yes the download link is now the latest version).
This article will help you install a second copy of Isadora (useful for testing): https://support.troikatronix.c...
NOTE: the file format will be updated for Isadora 3.1.1 so if testing a current project file PLEASE save as a new file (dialogs will warn you) so that you have a safe backup
