M1 works with TH2Go & Ultrastudio G3
-
Hi All
Just because I was curious, I thought I'd pass along my recent experiences with my new MBP-M1. I have used my TH2Go DP it seems forever. With a USB C to DP adaptor and some strange tweaking of the Matrox Desk program, I pleased to report that is works just fine. Isadora is pumping through my projectors without hick or cough. I also bought a Blackmagic G3 monitor box. I downloaded the newest drivers and - nothing. Turns out one needs a certified TB 4 cable and now it works. I bought the Caldigit cable. - John

@jjhp3 Good grief - so many spelling and grammatical errors! And written pre-beer at that. Simply put, the old TH2Go works just fine and Isadora is working with my 3 projectors without any problems. My apologies for my previous errors!

Hi,
You say “ Isadora is pumping through my projectors with hick or cough.“ what does that mean?
Best wishes

@bonemap Sorry - its' a colloquial term here in the States: something that doesn't work right can be said to have a "hiccough" so it should have said "without a hick and a cough." I was just being silly... and forgot the "out" with which it might have at least made a little sense!

thanks for your post John- could you tell me sth more about this little tweaking you did to your Matrox Desk Program and how did you get into the TH2Go?
best wishes

@Oscar My process was: I bought a USB-C to DP adaptor from amazon (USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) to DisplayPort 4K@60Hz Adapter, Benfei USB Type C to DisplayPort/Dp Male to Female Converter for MacBook Pro 2015/2016, ChromeBook Pixel Grey) and downloaded the latest Matrox Desk. I don't recall if it is silicon-ready, but it works. Restarted and hooked up. In this particular case I had 3 4:3 VGA projectors attached to the DP version of the TH2Go via adaptors I had for years. The Matrox app showed and recommended the 3072 x 768 resolution which I accepted. The new Benfei adaptor was nice and secure, but I had some trouble with getting the TH2Go powered up. But after a few tries, hooking and unhooking, it showed it's green ready light and has never had the problem again. Satisfyingly straight forward. I have not yet attached 3 16:10 projectors to make sure that arrangement works. Nothing I had to do "inside" the TH2Go.
