Dreaming about IzzyCast
-
Hi All,
You might've seen / heard about the Oh Yay platform going under. For those of you who don't know, Oh Yay was a node based virtual community gathering platform that facilitated conferences, events, games, and more! It was fun and interactive, you could beautifully design spaces with little to no coding knowledge and free to use! But they recently announced that they will be closing down their services at the end of the year and my company and I are looking for alternatives for some clients who'd like to hold their hybrid conferences in 2023. As an advanced Isadora user I am pitching my company on possibly using Isadora for video communication and graphic design as a back end to feed to YouTube live (or some other streaming platform recommendations welcomed). The problem is there's the incredible lag once it streams to YouTube so if someone asks a question there it may not be seen right away. I am looking forward to seeing IzzyCast and love the demo Mark made at his conference. I was wondering when we might see IzzyCast come out to the public?
best,
Carlos -
We are very excited about the possibilities IzzyCast will bring to the Isadora community. For sure streaming for hybrid conferences is one possible usecase.
For details on what IzzyCast is, when it will be released and much more I suggest watching the Second hour of this Q+A about IzzyCast. We hope to have a private beta in the near future so we can work out a few remaining details, but you can learn much more in the Q+A linked above.

This is not a problem that's only present in our RTMP Streamer actor. With streaming in general (through any software and service) there'll be a delay between what the streamer is doing and when that footage actually reaches the viewers. If you find the delay to be less if you use OBS for the actual streaming, you could just send out your Isadora Stage to OBS using Spout (Windows) or Syphon (macOS) by checking that box in Isadora's Stage Setup (and I think you need to install a plugin for OBS to receive Syphon/Spout).
