[SOLVED] Izzy keeps crashing!
-
I am now getting desperate! I've eventually managed to get the depth camera working.
I've managed to link 2 macs with Isadora using listener and net broadcaster. Great.
BUT every time I run through the set, Izzy on my main mac freezes. I have to force quit and restart. I can't do that in a live show!
I have 3 theatre shows starting this Saturday and I'm desperate.
In desperation, David

I've been sitting here for two hours constantly having to shut down and restart my computer!
-
@vidasonik I've just opened Izzy - yet again - with nothing else open at all and i can't even change from one scene to another.
-
@vidasonik I can't even close it down without force quitting!
-
I've created a ticket for you. Please check your email.
Best wishes,

I hopped on a video call with @Vidasonik and we determined that the problem was running the OpenNI Tracker Beta actor on the M1 Max (even in Rosetta) so I helped Vidasonik move the OpenNI functions to the second computer he was already using for the production.
Computer 1 (M1 Max) Plays video, does live drawing, runs Ableton, and Ableton sends MIDI notes to Isadora on Computer 1, which is sent over a Net Broadcaster actor to Computer 2 (Intel Mac) to keep the Isadora Scenes on Computer 1 (M1) and Computer 2 (Intel) in synch.
Computer 2 (Intel Mac) has another Isadora patch that outputs to a different display (Computer 2, Stage 1). Computer 2 (Intel) has a background Scene with the OpenNI Tracker BETA actor that always stays active. In this background Scene, the depth video from the OpenNI Tracker BETA actor is connected to a Projector actor set to Stage 2, which is a Virtual Stage. In Computer 2's Stage Setup we enabled NDI output for the Virtual Stage (Stage 2) so that any computer on the same network could pick up the OpenNI Tracker BETA's depth video feed as an NDI source. We then edited the patch on Computer 1 (M1 Max) so that it picked up the video feed with an NDI 5 Watcher actor. On Computer 2 (Intel Mac), the 'skeleton' output of the OpenNI Tracker actor went out to a Skeleton Decoder actor from which we took the X and Y data from the left and right hands and sent each data stream to Computer 1 (M1 Max) via four more Net Broadcasters.
TLDR: For anyone in the future experiencing a similar problem, the solution was to move the OpenNI Tracker section of Vidasonik 's patch to an Intel Mac, then sent the skeleton data and depth video over the network to the M1 Max computer.

wow @woland, am very impressed you managed to understand this complex setup and fix it within hours
Izzy support is the best, ever

@mr_j @woland can't thank you enough for all your painstaking help with this and amending my set-up so I can create the visuals for the show Saturday!
It was a real please working with you and I feel very grateful for all the trouble you took - and giving me a step by step guide.
I am still puzzled why, for example, Orbbec don't have any custom software to operate their depth camera from a mac.
I will let you know how it all goes on Saturday and hope we can get by communicating between the two macs through their internet network.
All best wishes, David
