Hello all, first post here :)

I'm trying to control 2 Aida NDI 200 cameras via TCP using the visca over ip protocol.

I found this post, but it didn't really help. The connection looks ok, and the weird thing is that when trigging commands with the "tcp send data" actor, the camera sometimes receives it (and often with some delay) but most of the time nothing happens. Been trying to figure it out for days now, but I can't get it to work...

This is my test setup :

      Any idea?

      Thanks you very much!

Are you on macOS or Windows? If you're on Mac, we have an alpha version of a VISCA plugin that needs testing and we'd love you to give it a try for us. If you're on Windows, we don't have the plugin ready yet.

[EDIT: Beta versions for both macOS and Windows now exist.]

Please send in a support ticket (check the link in my signature) and we'll get you into the Beta program (there's no cost associated, just a form to fill out).

The plugin was developed over the course of a couple of weeks by Mark during a short workshop/residency, so it has never been used for a performance. As previously stated, it's an alpha version of the plugin, so this is quite literally the very first iteration of it. You are welcome to use it for a performance, but we would strongly advise that you test it thoroughly to ensure it is suitable for use in mission-critical situations before doing so.

            Best wishes,

            Woland

              Hi,

One question: if you set ip adrees in a web borser, do you have access to the login window of the camera?
In the manual it explains that communication is through UDP, although it specifies as a TCP / UDP protocol. Maybe you can try sending the command through the UDP protocol to see if it is a protocol problem. This app can help you Bitfocus. It has a basic UDP module.

              Best.

                Hi @jandraka,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes I still have the login window of the camera and controls via the web browser.

But I wanted to be able to make presets inside my Isadora scenes (via the tcp send data).

I'll try and investigate on the sending the commands through the ump protocol.

                Cheers !

                Tom

                        Hi,

I successfully tested birdog cameras with the visca alpha actor. And tomorrow morning I'll test this amazing guy !!

Datavideo PRT10 Mark II robotic pan tilt head with motors that can control zoom and focus. The amazing thing is that the movement is very smooth. Much better that the Nirdog (In the Birdog the movements seems to have les steps). Plus the Birdog cameras, (that I like a  lot by the way for certain uses) will never be as good in theatrical conditions in low lights. Datavideo heads allow me to use our Blackmagic Pocket 6k pro with Canon Series L f2.8 lenses that have a high dynamic range and are super il low lights. I'll report here the findings. Prior fast test didn't allow me to control it. I hope it will be better tomorrow.

                        Cheers
