[ANSWERED] Can Actors Control the Control Panel?
-
I was just trying to get some clarification on whether it's possible to reverse engineer control of the control panel buttons/sliders/etc for an actor in the scene. For instance, can an envelope generator actually impact a control panel slider beyond "showing value of linked property." And if not, I remain unclear from the thread below on how to use Midi or OSC to control the control panel buttons.
Thanks!
Josh

Not at the moment, no.

@woland — Thanks — too bad. I've been building a pretty complex patch that's been super flexible for the rehearsal process, but now that I'm looking to automate it for a more linear cue progression, I was definitely hoping to not have to rewire everything. Alas.

@joshuawg You can. If you connect the slider button ID to the output of the Envelope Generator, then if you trigger the envelope the slider will animate.

You can also do this with radio buttons.
I use this a lot as I want my control panel button to update so I can monitor stuff. -

@dimitrisC I took the above to mean "do something beyond updating the Control Panel visually". Indeed you can do many things to update the Control Panel visually, but nothing you do in that respect will push values from the Control into other actors.
