Jumping back into izzy 3 after a long break... I haven't updated since version 1. and I notice there is still an actor category for Quartz. Is Quartz still available? (It seems hard to find and lacks support...?) and does it run reliably on izzy?

From Well actors still work but they change the enchain (projector) from gpu to ci. Some make my version crash (like CI 3x3 convolution in the CI group). I generally stay away from them. I am not much of precooked effects guy. I make my own blends. This is one reason I stay away from them mixing the ci with the gpu is possible through a whole set of ci to gpu, ci to cpu, cpi to ci acors, etc. But al of this can be quick heavy on the cpu... Look at the forum you'll find lots of resources to understand all this quick.

It's still available but they're not ours (we just pull them in from the existing Apple architecture) and thus we can't do much about how they function which means that none of them have help text for the actors or inputs/outputs (so it's hard to learn or remember what many of them do) and they can be inherently inefficient and, in some cases, unstable. As far as I can tell, it's also quite uncommon to find people developing their on QC plugins, which used to be much more common.
