URGENT: DMX In via USB DMX Pro
-
I am trying to get DMX input working with a DMX USB Pro and I was hoping someone who had done this could shed some light?

Dear Matthew,
I do not have one of these devices here at the moment. Buy if memory serves, you need to send some kind of message to the device to tell it you want to input instead of output. Look over the documentation for the message/byte/bit you need to send. That's all I offer at the moment to help.Best Wishes,Mark -
it should send you enttec formatted messages.
http://www.enttec.com/docs/dmx_usb_pro_api_spec.pdf
So if you look at the available matrix send based patch that sends the hex string for Enttec, you have a starting point for what to look for.
I was planning to add this to a actor I just released on my blog.. It allows 2 universe output via these devices.
If I can I will look into this tomorrow a little more deeply. -
So far I have only been able to confirm that the ultraDMX pro, can send and receive simultaneously as well as individually.
That said I also just caught that we are using different hardware, but this shouldn't be an issue since I suspect we are both looking for the same data formats.A serial monitor would be huger help ;)
Currently I crash every few minutes as I adjust things trying to get a view of the input. -
Hi Guys,
Sorry for the slow reply. But here is a patch that I had receiving data from the ENTTEC at one point. Please have a look. For sure the standard ENTTEC USB Pro does **not** send and receive at the same time. It's one or the other.Hopefully this patch will get you moving.Best Wishes,Mark -

I haven't been able to get back to this yet...
Did you have any luck Matthew? -
I ended up finding a workaround so I stopped trying to make this work.

Glad to hear you were able to move ahead.. I still plan to do some testing, and will post my finding once complete.
