Desktop "goes" to screen projection
-
Hello everyone ! This is the situation...I have always connected my computer to all types of projectors or screens, I never had any problem or "situation" out of the ordinary...
Now the last 2 times I connected to projectors (one super professional and the other for home use (very cheap) The following happened: my desktop appeared in the projection, and my screen (my computer screen) went completely black. My configuration was an extended screen as appropriate to work live with Isadora.
Has it ever happened to you?
Thanks a lot. Best,
Maxi RIL

This has to do with the setting 'Displays have separated spaces'
You can find this setting in Desktop & Dock in your Settings

Thanks Juriaan! I actually have that option unchecked.
I've never changed it in years.. As I mentioned in the previous thread I've never had this problem.. I don't know what it could be

Hi,
I have had this scenario with projectors recently. It is a bit disturbing when we are expecting displays to be recognised and a bit more plug and play. But this is not always the case unfortunately. It appears that the sequence of plugging projectors in and then starting up or restarting the computer can assist with getting the projector displays working correctly. I have had this issue persist a couple of times but it has always come good after resetting cables and restarts.
Best wishes

Hi.
Have a look in the Display settings. Click on each of the two screens and verify the screen layout is as you want it.
If you look at the two screens in the display settings, one of them will/should have a control bar (shaded rectangle) at the top. Chances are your mac has decided the secondary screen is now your primary screen. If this is the case, click and drag that shaded rectangle and drag it your actual "primary" display of your laptop.
This shaded bar represents the finder bar normally at the top of your desktop view and tells your machine which display is the main display.
It is probably something to with the EDID et al. Screen layouts like this can be like the dark arts at times....Once you pull the finder bar over, it should revert to normal....should...
This is what this problem sounds like...I hope.
