Specifically, I'm trying to get PNGs to follow the portrait of a person or get the image to act as a shape so it can move around and be manipulated to follow the person. I' trying to get a png to interact with the threshold being lower so that the png shows up for different values using a camera for motion capture similar to "portrait on a fly" art piece. I want the portrait of a person picked up by a camera to be made up of a png. even if there is a way to do a connection with motion tracking and particles.

        Hi,

There are some options to achieve what you have described in Isadora. You might find a part solution with the 3D Particles and 3D Model Particles modules.

Here is a forum thread that links to an example:

        Best wishes

I replied to your other post, but based on this description, and for the benefit of other people wanting to do the same thing who see this post, I'm going to point you to:

          • The Alpha Mask Tutorial that we have on our Add-Ons Page: https://troikatronix.com/add-ons/tutorial-alpha-mask/
            • This should be helpful if you want to use the body of the performer as an alpha mask rather than having an image follow them around.
            • I believe this or the tutorial mentioned below also has a "video follow spot" Scene near the end that causes a Shapes actor to follow the performer around. Replace the Shapes actor with a Picture Player and then use a Zoomer's 'horz center' and 'vert center' inputs and you should be able to move your .png around in the same way.
          • The Motion Tracking Tutorial that we have on our Add-Ons Page: https://troikatronix.com/add-ons/tutorial-basic-motion-tracking/
