Is there a way to let your movieplayer use the ASIO-Device one configured in the Soundpanel. If i test it with a sound generator it uses the Device specified there. But no way Moviplayer uses anything but the System default WDM-Device? What am i missing? It is no option to use WDM for audio during a show! Thanks

Unfortunately, multichannel audio routing from the Movie Player actor is not yet implemented. Right now the Movie Player uses a different system than the multichannel audio routing system used by the Sound Player, Tone Generator, and IzzyCast actors. The workaround I'd suggest for now is this:

        1. In editing software, export your audio as a sound file
        2. In Isadora, import your video file and your audio file.
        3. Use a Movie Player actor to target your video file (either a version without sound or with the 'volume' input of the Movie Player actor set to '0')
        4. Use a Sound Player actor to target your audio file and use that to do the multi-channel audio routing via the Audio Panel (in your screenshot above).
        5. Trigger your Movie Player and Sound Player actors at the same time so the video and audio begin in synch.

it’s been a feature request and supposedly in the works for around 5 years. Don’t hold your breath?

If you want to keep your audio with your videos and get full asio support you can run them in touch designer (free for non commercial) or also chataigne (free). Both these will let you do all the routing with audio tracks in your video files and much more. You can control them by osc. Lots of other software can do this too. These two are pretty simple.

Yes indeed, we're well aware. We do our best, but there's only so much our four full-time employees can get done, (and to remedy that we're actively searching for additional C++ programmers so that we can get more features and bug fixes out the door more quickly). Like any tool or software, Isadora will never be everything that everyone wants it to be (though we wish it could be!), so as Fred so politely pointed out, if multichannel audio for video is essential to your workflow, Isadora might not be the perfect tool for you right now. We always try to keep as many users happy as we can, but we have thousands of feature requests in our database. We're never sleeping on specific feature requests to spite anyone but, unfortunately, that doesn't stop specific users from getting quite spiteful about it.

If anyone needs to move to a different tool that better suits their project requirements, we'll be sad to see them go, but all we can do is give it our best, and that's what we are going to keep doing.

Oh, I thought @Fred  was suggesting using one of these other programs to play back the Video/Audio together with ASIO support if needed, and controlling TD/Chataigne with OSC from Isadora.  Or maybe that's just how I'd do it. So not moving to a different tool altogether just using a different tool to fill in Isadora's missing features.

@mark_m eyp thats what I was suggesting - these softwares can be controlled from Isadora - this kind of augmentation is a pretty common suggestion in the field.

Having this feature request resolved would be best of course.

We hear you @Woland - the limited staff is the reason for the rate of progress - no spite - just offering a work around - have a great day!!

My apologies, I was a bit grumpy because I'd been at the office for around 34 hours straight when I read your comment yesterday (and then stayed for another five). Hope you have a great day too :)
