Audio Routing on Windows

Hi all,

how can I route the audio to different OUT on Windows?

I know that, with the core audio, this is possible on Mac, but I have to use the Win Edition because I have to use also Lightjams software to control many DMX, ant this software run only on Win.

So... it's totally impossible to route the audio signal on Win? I have 6 video OUT but only 1 audio OUT?

Maybe I have to buy also Ableton Live?

Please help me!

Dear Eugeio,

I'm sorry but Isadora doesn't support multi-channel audio on the PC. We've had discussions here about it, but without basically created a VST host in Isadora, it's really not possible.

You can certainly trigger other softwares though.. perhaps through MIDI or OSC. Others (who are more PC aware) may have better suggestions than me.

Hi Eugenio,

after quite long trying, testing and searching, I found a solution which works in Windows-Isadora. I have successfully tested it on two hardware devices:

Sound Blaster SB1095 - see http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/871276/Creative-Sound-Blaster-X-Fi-Surround-51-Pro?ref=searchDetail
and 2) over HDMI output and a Denon AV receiver.

Multichannel sound is not working with audio interfaces like Roland octa capture (which i also tested) or rme fireface. These interfaces appear in windows system as different stereo outputs, and therefore Quicktime can only play stereo sound over the interface. Multichannel on Quicktime and therefore Isadora-Windows is only working with hardware that is multichannel in Windows.

The trick is to place the sound files in a movie. With Quick Time Pro you can assign the output channels, for example with SB 1095 you can use left, right, center, surround left, surround right and LFE (sub) as 6 independent channels.

At first i advise to test audio in Windows, system setup - sound - playback - configure. You can test all speakers in a 5.1 surround setup.
It is very important (and in fact took me endless trying) to configure Quicktime Audio correctly. The only setup that works is "Windows Audio Session".

Dear Gunther,

Wow, that's great. I've tried many approaches, but never got it to work. It probably comes down to the device appearing as a true multi-channel device under Windows. (For instance, my MOTU Traveller appears as 4 separate stereo devices.)

@DusX, can you please look this over so that you in case we need a tutorial on this?
