Sound File to Sound Level Watcher?

Hello all,
Working on a little audio reactive patch and I have a questtion. Is it at all possible to use a movie player or sound player to feed audio data to the sound level watcher of sound frequency watcher?
I am on a PC so Soundflower is not an option for me unfortunately.

If you play the audio as a MOV file (convert them if you favorite audio software).. the player offers frequency outputs.
