the windows installer does not create icon shortcut in start menu. true for all installs I have done so far

also an error for missing MSVCR100.DLL is encountered on fresh windows installaitons. I had to hunt it down through shady dll sites and I'm unclear if it comes with a .net version

Any insight here. I don't have windows so can't look into this.

I haven't run into this issue recently (maybe last year)

The dll should be part of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. (doing some searching I can't tell if its included in the 2012 package)

What version of Windows is the fresh OS?
It may be that this file is no longer distributed with the OS.
