Dear Craig,
Given my addled brain, maybe you can remind me what I said I was going to do. ;-)Best Wishes,Mark -
i have just purchased a Enttec DMX USB PRO and some LED, I was planing to test out the setup using isadora ,wondering if anyone got a simple patch i could use?
-
Im trying out my new DMX USB PRO with isadora for the first time. I tried to use CraigAlfredson´s Enttec Lanbox MATRIX v1.3.izz 52K patch, but when I open it I get a serial port error saying that my serial port could not be activated, I guess that this has to do with some drivers i dont have. Has this problem ever occurred to someone and does anyone have any good tip how to get around the problem?

I havnt ever played with one of these things, however heres a couple of things to check out,
go to communications > serial port setupdetect serial port, bottom left or manually choose it,can you see the port your plugged into?when selected is it red and busy? if so it could be in use by another program if so close it down.or could be a driver issue.theres a couple of things to try.hope that helpslanz -
hi lanz and thanks a lot for the reply!
yes it is plugged in to port 1 and the red typing saying usbserial-EN084669(Offline)im not using any other programs so it cant be that.it doesn't pop up in the Finder > devices menu either when i plug it in.do you know about any trick i can try.b.wasle -
Hello aslelp,
The red typing you see is the left-over ID from my Enttec device. In the Serial Port Setup window, hit Detect Serial Ports and then click the Select button under Port 1\. You should see another device with a similar name; select it and all should be good. If you don't see that, then there is a problem with the drivers for the Enttec. You need to install FTDI drivers fro the entecc, available at http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm. If you continue having trouble, try downloading the free version of Mini Stage Console from ChromaKinetics here:http://www.chromakinetics.com/DMX/miniStageConsoleMac.html.It is a good little program that I use to troubleshoot DMX issues. -

Use the VCP drivers.

Thanks Sculpture for reviving topic. Have been pulled away to other matters but will need to return to lighting soon. All info in this thread is most helpful. +++

I recently posted an user actor that combines previous Entec features with a few others.. might be worth a test.
I hope it suites some users needs.

I would look at the speed you are transmitting your data.. this has cause me some serious performance issues, to the point of freezing up.
If you are unsure how to control this, my actor has features built in. -
hello aslelp,
If you are having problems with it crashing, add a Trigger Text actor between the Matrix Value Receive and the Send Raw Serial Data. Then add a pulse generator to the trigger of the Trigger Text and set it to 40hz.Mark has fixed this bug for future updates.Craig -
hi craigAlfredson thanks a lot, now it works perfect!
Do any one have a good idea how i could make a good color pan!
I was thinking on making a installation were i would use sound level watcher to trig a RGB color pan.
I have a setup were im controlling the RGB values via 3 channels in the matrix value send actor.channel 1 = red
channel 2= green
channel3 = blue
and then i trig these by having 3 sound level watchers that is limited on the min level with 3 different values. Then i get a staircase effect going from red in to yellow to a bit green and then light blue.
Do anyone have a better idea how to create more colors? -
Basically, you want to ramp through the hue, right? Look at the attached patch: the Sound Level Watcher is attached to the Color Maker, which has a 'hue' input. Then, the output of that is connected to the Color to RGB converter actor, which gives you the RGB intensity of the color from 0 to 255. Send those three values to your DMX channels, and I think you'll get what you're looking for.

I have the Lanbox connected to the DMX USB Pro, when I look in communications > Serial Ports > It is still not detecting the hardware? Does anyone have any advice for trouble shooting this? Is there a step that I should know that I need to take in installing anything in my Mac?
