Useful tool for Kinect V2 on Windows.
-
This fall I have worked on a few Kinect V2 projects.
It also offers the 'green screen' like feature, that automatically cuts out the background and provides a video feed with alpha of the 'body'. Hopefully its useful to some of you.
In doing so I put together an OF project that shares the Kinect v2 skeleton data, as well as, a number of the video feeds via Spout.
https://github.com/rwebber/kin...Skeleton data is provided via OSC, and is either sent as individually addressed messages, or wrapped as JSON and sent as just a few bundled messages.
I have included a sample Isadora file that shows how to unbundle these messages and use a few of the features.
It requires the latest beta: http://troikatronix.com/isa25b...I am actively working on this project, so if you have any trouble let me know and I'll fix it asap.

Thanks, Ryan!
I look forward to trying it all out! -
Thanks Ryan. I am going to buy a Kinect V2 soon. Will you keep us updated via this thread please? Thanks,

Gladly. There are more features I am happy to add if people start to use this. My focus was on trying to pass the osc data as json ( hoping to make an easier system ). So the straight osc addresses haven't been tested much, and don't yet include the hand open/closed state. Hopefully it's useful to some. ☺

@DusX Hi Ryan,
After your workshop in this at the Workstatt I've been trying to try this out, but with no success at all.
My Kinect definitely works on the machine but I can't get your demo file Izzy file downloaded from Github to work at all.
Maybe I am doing something VERY stupid but if you had a spare few minutes (like, right...) I wonder if you could write a step by step total idiot's guide (my level) to getting going with this? From how you download the files from Github to how you get Isadora up and running and seeing the Kinect and getting the data going. Had such fun with it in Berlin, getting very frustrated here in London! -
@DusX
Hi Ryan, me again: I think the issue for me is that in the kinect2share_v0.2-beta the kinect2share.exe was included, whereas I don't find it in the current master download from Github. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how to download files from Github... don't I just download as a .zip and open that? Or is there some sort of compiling needed?
THanks!

Hi Ryan,
You are AWESOME!!!
Thank you very much! I am not a Developer and I was super desperate to have something like that!!!
If you have a PayPal I can buy you a couple of beers ;)
Thank you once again!
Regards,S.

I think you are grabbing the wrong bundle.
Look for the 'releases' tab/link (I always miss it as well.. not very prominent)
There you get the complete app... pretty sure you were grabbing the source code ☺
I can write something up to help with my next update (coming soon since I am using it for a project that requires some minor things) I will add the instructions to the Readme.

@DusX
DOH! Stick me in the corner and pass me the dunce's cap. Yes, that's just what I was doing! LOL!
Right, let's give it a go (rolling up sleeves and turning on the Kinect!) -
that work for you ?
-
hello. wonderful tool for noncode people like us. but we can not get the deph info/ picture/ video. not in your gui of th of app. and not over ndi or spout.

I don't really understand you....
What can you see? Post a screenshot....
The Kinect can take a moment to detect you. So you can see the RGB image in the program, but you won't see the other three until the Kinect has recognised you.
Make sure the camera can see you - or a body - and move around a little so that it can tell you're human. -

ok. thanx very much. with all ndi's on it works. but also the contrast on some of our displays was so horrible that this also makes it difficult to see infrared and depth. so maybe it is possible to manage brightness and contrast in kinect2share tool?
thank you very much.

@deflost
I haven't yet added a Levels effect to the app. Its planned, but won't happen real soon.
You can adjust levels and contrast in Isadora (gpu based, and fast). Thats what I've done in the past and it works well.
