Isadora Stammtisch NYC #2, Nov. 2017
-
Hello All,
As I mentioned I'm going to be starting a new forum post and a new group chat every month for the Isadora Stammtisch NYC meet-ups.
Isadora Stammtisch NYC #1 Forum Link: https://community.troikatronix.com/…/isadora-stammtisch-…/12
What is Isadora Stammtisch NYC?
A free, (hopefully) monthly series of meet-ups for Isadora Users in NYC that is open to folks of all skill levels.
What We Do:
We meet for several hours, but what we'll do when we meet up is discussed and agreed upon in a group chat beforehand. This past month we introduced ourselves and a bit of our work to each other, then I gave a free workshop on a few things like MIDI Show Control, interfacing with QLab, Control Panels, and User Actors, etc.
We'll likely do a short show and tell where everyone who wants to can show a bit of their own work with Isadora. If you've got a work in progress that you'd like some help with, bring it along and we can all dive into it together.
How to Join the Party:
I've created a group chat where this event can be discussed by interested parties without blowing up the forum (as I feel there will be a lot of back and forth in figuring out the scheduling and a venue for it to take place). I plan on making it monthly, as it'll be a great way to further foster the connections between Isadora Users in NYC.
Everyone who already commented on my first Stammtisch NYC post ( @Judgeworks @Shigezo @JPDance @Bob288) I've added you to the chat already.
@plastictaxi and @Fred It'd be great to see you both!Anybody interested in joining in:
- Please reply to this topic if you'd like me to add you to the chat.
- Please PM me if you'd like to be removed from the chat.
If you're interested in attending and would like to join the Stammtisch group chat, or can possibly provide a venue for us to host this event, please comment on this post.
Date: Most likely within the last few days of November, as that sounds like it would be what works best for @judgeworks @plastictaxi and @Fred
Venue: Is still to be decided, as the date isn't locked down, but @judgeworks might be able to provide us with the same conference room we used for the first Stammtisch.
Focus: I've just started the discussion in the group chat about what we'd like to focus on when we meet up.
Length: In terms of length, this past month we met from 2pm to 8pm, but if folks want to meet for a longer period of time, we could start earlier.
I'm always happy to use Isadora, any chance I get, for any reason, for any amount of time, with any Isadora User(s) (regardless of whether you're a pro or are just starting out, it's always fun for me), so if you're unable to attend this event, are a NYC-based Isadora User, and would like to meet up one-on-one with me to play around with Isadora, send me a PM (private message).
Thank you all!
Best Wishes,
Woland (Lucas Wilson-Spiro)
P.S. Isadora Users in other cities: If you're sad you can't come to our party, why not make your own? Who wants to be the one to start this in Boston? Chicago? Philly? LA? London? Paris? Rome? The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh, built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars; wherein The Great Dreamer Cthulhu, High Priest of the Great Old Ones, waits and slumbers?

Bumping because it's been a couple weeks.
If anyone else in interested in joining in, please let me know!

I'm trying to entice friends/students who are studying at Sarah Lawrence and The New School to come to the Stammtisch. If anybody has any NYC-based friends or students who are interested in learning more about Isadora, please point them in my direction or vice versa.
P.S. @fred @plastictaxiI just added you to the group chat as well.

I just finished adding a large section about Isadora Stammtisch NYC to my website: https://lucaswilsonspiro.wordp...
If anybody knows anyone in NYC who might be interested in attending, or knows someone with students who might be interested, this section of my website has a better description of what the Stammtisch is, so please forward along that link to them rather than giving them the link to this forum post.
Best wishes,
Woland
