Tried to run sound in Isadora 1.3.0f25 and failed completely
-
I have had problems with audio now and again. To get around this I converted all wav and aiffs to movies and it worked fine.

@Skulpture
Do you think audio movies are more reliable than playing sound normally?
Do you have an suggestions on how to convert Wav files to audio MOV's, losslessly? I would need to use a cross platform QT audio codec. -
@Skupture thanks for clarifying this.

I think the main trick is that when audio is treated as movie you have different set of actors to work with that have much more controls. And sound goes through different pipeline.
I use Quicktime or MPEGStreamclip to convert sound to mov. But Isadora will treat mp3 as movie too. So if you have mp3's then you can use video actors only in anyway. -
I have had issues before but its normally last minute as in;
Someone says 15 mins before a show "can you play this track please...." and I have to dump it into a scene.We did have issues in Helsinki with the Reveal project (see my blog) and audio if i'm honest. We tried a few audio formats but it did cause crashes so in the end we converted all the audio to movies and it worked fine.Like Vanakaru I uses MPEGStreamclip and QuickTime to quickly convert everything.So yes @Dusx I do think audio movies are more reliable. -
@Skulpture
I will have to give it a try tonight... Might be easier for triggering things based on playback time.. right now I am starting a timer in sync with the start. Maybe I can try out the nice time actor floating around in the forum. ;) -
I think we really need to be using the User Actor Library more.....

Dear Eight: If you're running on Mac OS X, grab the small applet that gathers and compresses your crash reports into a zip file and send them to me at mark [atta] troikatronix [dotta] com. This will help me see if there is some pattern to the crashes you have experienced.
Download -> [get-recent-isadora-crashes.zip](http://forum.troikatronix.com/forum/TroikaTronix_News_C1/Announcements_F1/For_Mac_Users%3A_Auto_Crash_Report_Gathering_%5BUPDATED%5D_P12073/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=1158;guest=21792454&t=search_engine)But also keep in mind that 1.3.0f25 is not the release version. I believe the audio playback to be stable in 1.3.0f24, and will get it to be the same in the new release. Please send your bug reports regardless using the bug report form at http://troikatronix.com/support/isadora/Best Wishes,Mark -

@mark: I just emailed you a dropbox link to an archive with four crash logs. Your applet above though did not find any -- I looked them up in the Console.
Best regards,--8 -
I got it. I think it may be related to running this on 10.8. I will need to test it there and see what I find. Thanks for the information.
