[IMPLEMENTED] Data Array - Text support
-
Hi there all,
The Data Array is a really powerfull actor, sadly it doesn't work with Text values. And really, I don't see a reason for that.. It is basically the only thing that allows me to use a .txt file and give that to persons that are currently on tour.
And no, JSON based files is not a solution for this problem. Since .txt files are easy for other people to use too ! (Not Izzy users.. And JSON is quite a pain to format correctly.)
@mark @DusX Would love to hear your opinion and why this is a blocker ? Since it is currently not in the Data Array actor :)

Hello,
It's so much time I ask for that! Now I am not the only one, please Mark, UTF8 text on data array, so good for everything!
-
Yes, I’ve seen this as request for a long time. It’d be great for a number of applications.

It does in v2.6. So you'll have your wish shortly. And it does support UTF8 @jhoepffner. (You got this actor in August, no? Did it not work for you?)
Best Wishes,

Hi,
I look forward to seeing the release notes for 2.6. It appears that there is going to be a lot of new functionality to explore. It can’t be too far off now.
What you are doing with Isadora is a programmatically beautiful thing.

Dear Mark,
I apologize not responding earlier concerning text data array, so it's now 1 to 1 in our (not) responding match.
I just re-analyzed Data Array Text today, the concept is brilliant but there is a flawing point concerning text:
– if you enter the text in a spreadsheet app (I use Table Tool for simple editing), you can retrieve the text in Data Array Text, reading the cvs file
– If you enter the text in data array text it stay in Isadora memory but if you write or rewrite the external .csv file, the text is not recorded and when you read the file, no more text.
happy to share ideas with you.
Jacques

OK. I will fix this. (And sorry about not responding to your thoughtful message after the Werkstatt. Will send something about that today.)
Best,

Dear Jacques,
I have fixed the issue with saving and filed a bug report on your behalf. I'll get you a version to test ASAP.
Best Wishes,
Mark -
I am working on a project that would love to use data array in text form. Will you let me know how it goes?
Thanks, Valerie
