[SOLVED] Your system has run out of application memory [by 2.6.1]



  • Hi there,

    I have been getting this error on some of my patches recently.

    I am on OS 10.12.6 and running Isadora 2.6

    It happens only sometimes.

    Could it have something to do with some free frame effects I have ported into the Isadora that are meant for Resolume Arena 4 (for which I have a license.) For example I am using bendoscope from that package . . . I am starting to track this but am unsure if it is happening in scenes that do not include this or other similar filters I have added.

    I ask because, some of my research suggests this could this be a GPU memory issue?

    I have been unable to provide a system crash log because when it happens the OS pauses Isadora and then gives me a chance to resume it or force quit. Most of the time the computer just locks and forces a hard restart.  . . Sometimes it will pause ISadora and give me a chance to resume it. If I try resuming the system quickly locks up and becomes unresponsive forcing a hard restart. If I force quit instead Isadora will stop and I can try opening it again without restarting the computer - but the problem seems much quicker to re-present it self.  A few times I have been quick enough to pause the rendering engine in Isadora which will let me save one last time and close out the software. I am starting to track the activity monitor while I am working on this but am not sure what I should really be looking for. . . When I use the the added in effects it does seem to push the memory up  into the red-zone in the Memory section of the activity monitor - but haven't seen what it does yet when it crashes.  . . .

    The patch I am working on has 4 videos with various effects that are being controlled by a MIDI controller. 

    The videos I am using have been encoded primarily in the HAP codec.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    The new version of Isadora (2.6.1) is working great and the problem I was describing does not seem to be an issue any more.
