3d player tex map scaling

  • Hi all.

I don't get any result from the 'tex map scaling' input of the 3DPlayer actor. I am using the cube.3ds model from the examples. trying to connect different images to the 'texture map' input i get scaling of the images that i cannot understand or modify. I tried a Scaler actor to change the image size but nope.

anybody using this feature ? has it all to do with how the .3ds file was generated ?

i do not understand 3d models really , i just want to project a movie on a cube with some control where it is showing on the cube.

    thanks

    Hello,

I have a quite good result concerning texture, preparing the texture in C4D or Blender and making a real UV Map. If your 3D have a texture in the same folder as 3D model and isadora file, with a well made UV mapping, then the image will be wrapped following the mapping. Be careful with texture name, no space, no accent etc. Isadora is not the most explicit with 3D but you can still make interesting things.

  • it's a bug

    Hi,

This appears to be a bug.

Import a 3DS file with a png texture associated, all good in 3D Player actor - until you go near the 'tex map scale' - after that texture is no longer functional.

    Damn annoying!

Thanks for submitting a bug report.

In the meantime, you can use the Zoomer actor as a workaround. You'll have to change the 'horz size' and 'vert' size' inputs simultaneously with the same value to give uniform scaling.

The 'tex map scale' does in fact work for the texture imported with the object. It does not work when you supply an override to the imported texture. Again, you can use the Zoomer actor to get the same effect.

Attached is a v2.6.1 User Actor that encapsulates the Zoomer actor for your convenience.

zoomer works fine. PanSpinZoom is even more versatile.it allows to move the texture as it wraps the cube.3ds .

Thanks for checking on that. I take it all back - I might have been a bit over dramatic! The question is then, should we expect it to work on the override or take it as  limitation? adding the PanZoomSpin is easy enough.

Well, really I'd like it for all, but since it requires an update to Isadora itself (not just the plugin) I would take it as a limitation for now.

a chain of Matte++ actors (getting input through a Shapes actor that does nothing except to guarantee there is a video stream on all Matte++ inputs) allows to place different videos on any surface of the cube. Very versatile, perfect resolution. Could be done with a Shader I guess.
