Buffer actor running out of ram

Re: [Buffer actor out of memory Windows 10](/topic/3641/buffer-actor-out-of-memory-windows-10)
Has anyone overcome this? my tests have found that both mac and pc run out of ram at around 1-2gb of usage, when both have more available to them to use.
Thanks!

@mark @Monty @DusX I have been looking at this with @EdJoynson it seems that the buffer actor is capped or limited?
We want to be be able to buffer a 20-30 second HD video at 60fps. We are using a server with 64gig of RAM.

I suspect this is a limitation of the 32bit processes running the video. The upcoming 64bit version of Isadora should address this but I'm afraid I dont think anything can be done until then.

@dusx We thought as much.
Might have to be a buffer, into a buffer, into a buffer job then :)

Still won't work. You are limited to 4GB for the application, and the application itself naturally uses some of the 4GB. That's all you can have, regardless of how many buffer actors you use.
As Ryan said, the 64-bit Isadora v3 this fall will open this up to far larger delays with HD video.
Best Wishes,

MarkAh - Interesting. I thought the buffer may link or assign itself to a process ID (or similar). ok not to worry.

i've noticed this kind of behaviour recently, using 3 buffers of 120 frames each. after a rehearsal session of loading and clearing and resetting quite a few times, I got a message that i've run out of RAM. (the message suggests I should manually allocate more RAM to Isadora, but OSX handles all of the RAM automatically these days, as far as i know)
