      Theatre I am working at now has a setup whereby they use BlackMagic DeckLink Quad SDI card (in Sonnet Excho Express  SE I box) to output video from a computer to projectors through SDI on iMac Pro. They have it working in Resolume Arena. Resolume Arena sees it as Decklink Quad 1, Decklink Quad 2... outputs. How would I go about setting this up in Isadora? Currently Isadora ignores the presence of the BlackMagic Decklink Quad SDI card in the Preferences->Stages window.

      Thanks.

        Isadora 3 will offer integration of BlackMagic devices within its stage setup.

        In Isadora 2.6.1 this is not yet possible.
        Since Isadora gives you output access to all system displays, its possible a 3rd party utility may allow configuring the Blackmagic device to be seen as a standard system display, and therefore be accessible within Isadora 2.6.1
        Unfortunately I am not aware of any such tool.

          One thing to be aware of is that the blackmagic cards have no GPU, images will be processed on the GPU and then piped back via the CPU to the blackmagic card. This is a slow and expensive operation. The reasoning behind using the blackmagic outputs this would usually be to get 12bit RGB images or some other format that is difficult to obtain from the GFX card, otherwise using some convertors and the advanced settings on your GPU driver will get you pretty much every format you need in SDI. You can use blacksyphon to do this now (it wont have much more overhead than when it is native in Isadora.

            @eight ,

            I successfully used Black Syphon to output to the SDI outs.

              Thanks, guys.

              Would you share how I would set it up in Black Syphon? In Black Syphon (which I already use to capture video using the same DeckLink Quad card, its "Input" section), in the Output section all I see are the available DeckLink ports, with no means of selecting the Syphon input. Where do I specify the syphon input for the output to DeckLink port in Black Sypnon's Output section?

              Also, in Isadora, in Syphon Stage Output Actor, i am supposed to select a stage number. I have two projectors to feed, so I guess in the same Scene I am supposed to have Projector Actors set for Stage 1 and Stage 2. However, since Isadora in its Stage setup does not recognize the DeckLink ports, there are no Stage 1 and Stage 2 (beside the Main monitor). Since there is no Stage 1 and Stage 2, there is no output to GPU (via Stage 1/2), there is no output from the Syphon Stage Output.

              What am I missing?

              Thanks.

                Are you able to lock to External Sync? Reference. The card has an input for that.

                  @eight do you need the mapper? Can you use the ffgl syphon output? The syphon stage actor annoyingly needs a stage, they don't have to be full screen but need to be showing as stage previews, then you should see a syphon input option on black syphon.
