[ANSWERED] Play license.

  • Beta Platinum

    Hi,

I somethimes have small projects where they they need something small with some basic mapping.

They don't have the money to buy a full license and when there is no mapping involved they can play the file without any problem.

But when they need some mapping it is not possible for them to save the mappings they did.

It would be great to have a play license where they can make some small changes. for example a license where you can only save the mapping. and/or change some media.

I have seen that something under €150/€200 is most of the time in there price range.

Renting is an option but they don't need the full software.

Well this is all possible without a license.
If you want to switch a file just replace the previous one on the computer with the same name and Isadora will pick that up.
Publish mapping points save and recall them with a data array.

    @Michel

Its more about adding media files and adding some new mapping layer.

Also when publishing the points they can not work inside the mapping window. I did it with a simple square but with complex mappings it would be handy to change something in the mapping window an just save that.

  • @gertjanb

With some work, using published map corner and data array external record, you can do that (and I had done it often). Its not trivial to prepare but you can store preset for numerous data inside Isadora, save it and recall it.

Concerning files, you can have a folder with well numbered media files. If you change the media before opening Isadora, it replaced when you use it.

I think its difficult to have a downsized Isadora, the idea would be different for each one and to be able to construct a patch with the full one and then downsize it for the tour can be a huge task . One solution would be to have a downsized resolution app, as TouchDesigner, and I have heard that from Mark but I doesn't know if it is still in the tube.

If you publish mapping points, are they able to drag them in the mapping window?
Until now i made a 2D slider for each point but that becomes very confusing with curves and a lot of points.

maybe an output in the projector not with offset but with relative or absolute position? than save that to a data array?

  • @gertjanb

It is really dependant of the type of mapping, the number of sets etc. but here is a quick and dirty proposition to record "corner pin" in an external file.

I do not made the proper record/save/recall (another story) but I had 5 different show runing with this solution. Not only to use the demo version but also because I dont like to let the permission to the technician to change the patch, too dangerous.

With that you are sure they just record the settings.

  • and if they need someting more complicated with bunch of point, bezier etc. they can buy a licence_

I've been doing the same but with global keystone:

And they could save 10 setups.

I also lock all my paches with a password so they can not change anything otherwise they change a thing and it doesn't work anymore and its my fault.

Weekly rental or monthly subscription solves this.

The Yearly Subscription is about this price

I don't know that it would be sustainable for our team to develop, test, and maintain another specialized version of the software. I would suggest the rental and subscription licensing options as a solution to this.
