[ANSWERED] Rutt Etra Isadora 3
-
I just testing installing the Plugin on my High Sierra partition.
Dropped it in the folder 'IsadoraPlugins_x64' and started up a few version of Isadora (3.0.2 and the same as you are running) and its available in each.
@mark let me know if you can think of any changes I need to make to my system to better match Johns. -
thanks for looking Ryan. i'm going to fire up a different machine and test that one later...

I honestly cannot think of anything else to suggest. But here's an extra extensive list:
1) Quit Isadora
2) Erase the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.troikatronix.isadora.scanned-plugins-v3_0.txt
3) Erase any other com.troikatronix.XXX files you see in this folder
4) Erase the Isadora preferences ~/Library/Preferences/ -- basically I would erase them all if possible
5) Erase the plugin from the IsadoraPlugins_x64 folder
6) Start Isadora and choose Help > Open Plugin Folder > TroikaTronix Actor Plugins to make 1000% sure you're opening the right folder
7) Unzip the v002 Rutt Etra v1.2 distribution downloaded from here: https://troikatronix.com/plugi...
8) Go into v002 Rutt Etra Plugin > Macintosh. There should just be one the one plugin file: v002 Rutt Etra.izzyplug inside.
9) Move that one file into the folder that opened in step 6
10) Quit and Restart Isadora -
I've followed these steps and its still not showing up!!!!!!! on the other hand I installed it first time on a Yosemite machine running Isadora on my USB key version.
I made a user actor with it in and copied this over to my High Sierra machine. did a Place User Actor to bring it in. it shows up in the scene, but doesn't work, so the plugin is not installing correctly in the IsadoraPlugins_x64 folder.

Wow I really can't fathom this. But your sentance is a little unclear: "on the other hand I installed it first time on a Yosemite machine running Isadora on my USB key version." -- did you mean to say "...installed it and it worked the first time"???? Did it work or not work on Yosemite?
We've tried it on multiple versions of MacOS and on multiple machines and it worked fine and no one else has reported trouble.
What if you try this:
1) Open Terminal window
2) Enter xattr followed by a space
3) Drag the v002 Rutt Etra.izzyplug file to the terminal Window -- this will in add the full path to the plugin in the Terminal window
4) Hit returnWhat does it report? Do you see "com.apple.quarantine", which indicates it's quarantined?
Regadless of what you see, please do this:
1) Open Terminal window
2) Enter sudo xattr -c followed by a space
3) Drag the v002 Rutt Etra.izzyplug file to the terminal Window -- this will in add the full path to the plugin in the Terminal window
4) Hit return
5) Enter your administrator passwordNow try opening Isadora. Does it load?
The only solution I can imagine is sending you a specially built version that will show dialogs when it attempts to load the plugin and report errors. This will take some time I'm afraid.
Best Wisehs,

what i meant in the previous reply was that I booted up a different Mac, dropped the RuttEtra plug into the plugins folder, restarted Isadora and it showed up, no problem.
but my main Mac doesn't like it.
I did the Terminal stuff you suggested. it didn't show up as quarantined. i tried the sudo xattr -c command - Isadora opened as normal but the plugin didn't load. i'm in no hurry to get using the plugin at the moment, but it would be nice to know why its not loading.....

That makes two of us. Thanks for trying. I'm out of ideas at the moment.

I found a fix for it. i renamed the Plugin in its folder (took the v002 off of the start because that's also what the 32bit version was called) and it loaded no problem.

That's totally wacky. I can't imagine why this worked.

I think that ages ago i tried to put the original 32bit Rutt Etra plugin into the Izzy3 plugin folder to see if it would work. obviously it didn't, but maybe my Mac made a note of that and kept it in a hidden file somewhere? it might be worth renaming the plugin, just in case it catches anyone else out.....
