Using projectors in portrait orientation
-
This is probably obvious but I've dug into the manual and not found it.
I need to build a stage which consists of 2 overlapped projectors, both mounted in portrait orientation.
I know this isn't considered best practice, but it is necessary in this case.
I just cant't work out how to get isadora to play nice with me.
What have I missed? -
You can solve this conundrum by enabling the Spin option on your Projector actors (doubleclick the eye symbol)
-
Do make sure that the projectors will function in portrait mode...
Unless you're using a laser projector, or a projector whose manufacturer states that the projector can be used in portrait mode, you may find yourself entering a world of overheated projectors and blown bulbs. -
And if you use them in portrait orientation and the ventilation output is on the left or right side of the projector make sure the output side shows to the top.

@dbini is that really the only way to do it? I was hoping to set them up in the "stage setup" so that the setting is global for the project
-
@michel good note
-
@mark_m yeah, like I said it's not ideal but the projectors I'm using seem to cope with it in testing.
-
@michel anything regarding this happend in the stage setup since 2019? - i can't find it.. Do we still have to rotate everything in the Projector actor?
-
Setting up the Beamers in System Preferences (outside of Isadora) in Portrait Mode (90 degree rotation) should be the only thing you need to do.
Then they show up in Stage Setup vertically and the edge blending should work fine.
As always though, bench test your setup (or something as close to it as you can get) before arriving at the venue.

@woland Thanks for the Suggestion. Still - having this feature inside Stage Settings would enable the User to Safe the Setting with the Show. That would simplify Setup and reduce room for error, espacially in enviroments where we run multiple Shows from the same Computer. Cheers
