3D mesh projector, a bit meshy?
-
Hi peepsI am trying to get to the bottom of the mesh projector. I basically want to do UV mapping, but maybe this is not really what the mesh projector is for(?).It would be really great to be able to do uv mapping because IMHO UV mapping is the true awesome projection mapping. The manual states: The 3D Mesh actor currently only works with the 3D Mesh file format saved by the meshmapper application developed by Paul Bourke in conjunction with his warpplayer application.(btw the url in the manual leads to a 403 error (forbidden). This should be updated to: http://paulbourke.net/dome/warpplayer/ and http://paulbourke.net/dome/meshmapper/)This is kinda complex and I can export a multitude of format meshes, just not this kind. At the moment I do my uv mapping in a 3d program and render it before I bring it into isadora. But live UV mapping would really open up some awesome mapping possibilities.Or is there another way of doing this that I missed?fubbi -
If I understand right what you are trying to do..
You can create a 3ds file in your favorite 3d software, apply a texture and export it (this can be tricky.. all files must be in same directory+ . this is a thread I started to figure it out for Blender: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?217981-How-to-export-3ds-files-with-textures&p=2360301#post2360301)
Then you can use the '3D player' to render your 3ds file, and you can replace the texture (probably a jpg) with a video stream.
Not sure if this will accomplish what you want, but it gives you video mapped on 3D. -
