There are some known Direct Show codecs that do not work.
Unfortunately, if one of these codecs is selected and it causes an error (like the one in your screen capture) the recording system will not work again until Isadora is closed and re-opened.

Known Bad Codecs:

Decklink MJPEG Compressor
Microsoft RLE
Microsoft YUV
Toshiba YUV

Known Working Codecs:

DV video encoder (DS)

HapA (vfw)
HapQ (vfw)
Intel IYUV (vfw)
MJPEG Compressor (DS)

Black Magic HD 8 bit 4:2:2
Black Magic 8 bit MJPEG

Additionally some codecs are less heavy on the CPU so below I will include some details on tests I have run.
It is also important to know that the Direct Show AVI files that are created are limited in size (4gb max), so recording time will be limited by this size limit.
