I am getting troubles with this new versión. I´m Using Kinect v1 (1414), Isadora freezes at all. I just get the image from kinect for 1 or 2 seconds before Isadora freezes. I restart my mac several times with the same result.

Did you remember turn off the 'use callbacks' as you did before?

I am have been running a test of the Kinect 1414 on Catalina 10.15.5 for the last hour, with the Kinect tracking me as sit here and work. No freezes or other issues I can perceive.

Are you capturing color as well? Did you make any other changes to the settings of the OpenNI Tracker actor? If you did, you should probably post the patch so we can test it in your exact configuration.

      Is anyone else having trouble?

Did the new placement of the masquerade.txt file solve your issue? Can you work with the Orbbec now?

Hi! I installed the version 0.9.7 with the same issues (Freeze), so I reinstall Isadora and OpenNi 0.9.8b2 and now looks that is working fine.

I turned use callbacks off (when is on, I got crashes). No working fine  without problems:

          Thanks Mark!!!

@mark I am testing with 3 Kinect V1 on OSX, it all seems pretty smooth. The only issue I see is that I want to be able to fix a device to a serial number. It seems like if I switch USB ports or add other USB devices the enumeration changes.

If you are on MacOS, then that is a limitation of the libfreenect driver. It does not acquire a real serial number from the devices. Is that what you're on?

I am going to summarize what @Safetycatch said in another thread since his posts there were off topic to that thread.

                1) @safetycatch asked first what depth camera I recommend, and told him that for skeleton tracking I would recommend Kienct v1 or v2, or the Orbbec Astra. I suggested that he ask Orbbec if the current Orbbec Astra models are compatible with the MacOS AstraSDK-0.5.0-darwin SDK since they areon macOS.

                2) Then they acquired an Astra, but were having trouble getting the tracking to work. They asked if they should download the new SDK, and I said no because Orbbec dropped MacOS support a while ago. The new SDK might mess things up because there is no macOS support at all.

Now my current question to @Safetycatch:

Did you read the release notes for v0.9.8b2 and see that the masquerade.txt file need to be at the same level as the OpenNI Tracker.izzyplug plugin?
Your signature line does not say what version of macOS you're running. Can you tell me that?

                    Hi Mark,

I have performed a quick plug and play with the Orbbec Astra both the Mini and Pro models. They have operated without any immediate issue, both provided coloured figures and  skeleton tracking instantly. Just to note this is on the audio beta so any more detailed report will go the the beta thread as appropriate.

                    Kind Regards

                    Russell

Yeah, being curious why they didn't get the serial number, I went on a little GitHub dig.

In this thread, they discuss the fact you could probably get the serial from the Kinect 1414  but possibly not from the 1473. But then there is a fix posted with the new function "freenect_open_device_by_camera_serial" which would sort of indicate success on this topic. So I went to look at the OpenNI driver. That does not reference these serial number calls at all. Hmmmmmm. Maybe something can be done by modifying the OpenNI driver. (I just wonder why no one involved with that project has tried this? It seems so obviously useful...)

                      Best Wishes,

@mark yes, I saw the same post that is why I asked. I guess it would require some reworking of the opening driver.

I did an initial investigation this morning. It seems possible to update the OpenNI driver to use the serial number... but I have other "fish to fry" today and will have to put off really trying for a few days.

@mark Thanks. Its working! (Mojave 10.14.5 for what its worth, added now to my signature for future reference. Still limited by my version of FCP from going full Catalina.) Apologies for my confusion and cross posting. It is working from this new version and new Masquerade placement straight away. Very exciting. I remember you talking about this in 2008 at the Live-I workshop in NYC, when it required Eyes Webb + Syphon (?) and you saying you were not sure if it would ever be possible to be built in to Isadora, nor if it would ever be able to read multiple skeletons seperately. And here it is. Great work. Thank you
